Choi Sang-kook
Choi Sang-Kook (born February 15, 1961) is a South Korea football manager and former footballer who plays as a forward. He played only for POSCO Atoms. Club career Choi Sang-Kook was the top scorer in the 1987 K-League season and he was also the top assister. He broke Piyapong Piew-on's record in the 1985 K-League season. He is the last man that was the top scorer and assister in the same season . International career He was part of the South Korea national football team. He played at 1984 AFC Asian Cup, 1986 Asian Games, 1988 Summer Olympics and many of South Korea's matches. Chungju
Chungju (충주시) is a city in North Chungcheong province, South Korea. Uamsan is a mountain located within the outskirts of the city. 1990 FIFA World Cup Qualification
The qualification competition for the 1990 FIFA World Cup was a series of tournaments organised by the six FIFA confederations. Each confederation — the Asian Football Confederation (AFC), Confederation of African Football (CAF), CONCACAF (North America), CONMEBOL (South America), Oceania Football Confederation (OFC), and UEFA (Europe) — was allocated a certain number of the 24 places at the tournament. A total of 116 teams entered the competition, with Italy, as the host, and Argentina, as the holders, qualifying for the final tournament automatically. The first qualification match was played on 17 April 1988 and qualification concluded on 19 November 1989. Merdeka Cup
Merdeka Tournament or Pestabola Merdeka is a friendly football tournament held in Malaysia to commemorate the Independence Day. The competition bears the Malay word for independence. As of 2022, it has been held 40 times, and decreasingly in recent decades. Matches in Merdeka tournament considered International "A" matches (Friendly match) by FIFA. Its final has been mainly held at Stadium Merdeka, Kuala Lumpur. The 1988 Korean Professional Football League was the sixth season of K League. A total of five teams participated in the league, all of them were professional teams. The season began on 26 March 1988 and ended on 12 November 1988. The season was operated in single stage, and every team played each other six times. This season caused a controversy over the selection of the Most Valuable Player. The majority opinion of outsiders was that Lee Kee-keun should receive the MVP Award, but the Korean Professional Football Committee chose Park Kyung-hoon, who played only 12 games in the league due to his schedule in the national team. Park also tried to return the award, but the committee rejected his decision.
