Cerro Miscanti
Cerro Miscanti (also known as Ipira) is a mountain located in the Antofagasta Region of Chile, immediately south of Chiliques and north of Miñiques. It towers over Laguna Miscanti. Rock samples from Cerro Miscanti are of andesitic composition, but andesite-containing dacites have also been found. The edifice covers an area of and bears traces of a westward collapse, which exposed the internal sector of the volcano. A new volcano grew inside the collapse scar. Miscanti may be either extinct or may have erupted in the Pleistocene-Holocene. Renewed eruptions are likely to consist of lava flows, which could impact the northern shores of Laguna Miscanti. An Inka sanctuary has been reported from Cerro Miscanti. A volcano is a rupture in the crust of a planetary-mass object, such as Earth, that allows hot lava, volcanic ash, and gases to escape from a magma chamber below the surface. Caichinque
Caichinque is a volcanic complex lying between Salar de Talar and ''Salar de Capur'', in the high Andean plateau of the Antofagasta Region, in Chile. It is located southwest of the Salar de Atacama, directly S of Cerro Miñiques and SE of Cordón Puntas Negras forming part of the main branch of the Andean volcanic chain in this area. Cordón De Puntas Negras
Cordón de Puntas Negras is a volcanic chain located east of the Salar de Atacama in Chile's Antofagasta Region. Cordón de Puntas Negras is constructed along the major Calama–Olacapato–El Toro fault and is long. The long volcanic chain intersects with the long Cordón Chalviri volcanic chain. Both chains cover a surface area of and contain cones, vents, lava domes, lava flows and maars, including a lava dome and silicic flow with a surface area of . Puntas Negras specifically covers an area of and is the highest summit in the chain and features a wide crater and a long pyroclastic flow. Puntas Negras runs from the Chiliques volcano on the north to volcán Puntas Negras () almost to the SE. Dacite () is a volcanic rock formed by rapid solidification of lava that is high in silica and low in alkali metal oxides. Andesite () is a volcanic rock of intermediate composition. In a general sense, it is the intermediate type between silica-poor basalt and silica-rich rhyolite.
