Belgium At The 2020 Summer Olympics
Belgium competed at the 2020 Summer Olympics in Tokyo. Originally scheduled to take place from 24 July to 9 August 2020, the Games were postponed to 23 July to 8 August 2021, because of the COVID-19 pandemic. Since the nation's official debut in 1900, Belgian athletes have appeared in every edition of the Summer Olympic Games, with the exception of the 1904 Summer Olympics in St. Louis. Victor Wegnez
Victor Nicky Wegnez (born 25 December 1995) is a Belgian professional field hockey player who plays as a midfielder for Racing Club de Bruxelles and the Belgium national team. Club career Wegnez played in the youth academy of Royal Daring and he played for their senior squad until 2017 when he transferred to KHC Dragons. After one season with the Dragons, he joined Racing Club de Bruxelles in 2018. In January 2020, he signed a two-year contract extension at Racing. In the 2021–22 season, he won his second Belgian league title, now with Racing. International career In 2016, Wegnez reached the final of the 2016 Junior World Cup and he was part of the Belgian selection that qualified for the final at the 2017 European Championship in Amsterdam. Loïck Luypaert
Loïck Fanny Luypaert (born 19 August 1991) is a Belgian field hockey player who plays as a defender for Braxgata and the Belgian national team. He combines his sports career with an educational program of Movement Science at the Vrije Universiteit Brussel. Club career Luypaert started playing hockey at Braxgata. Between 2007 and 2009, he was active in Royal Herakles HC, in 2009 he moved to the KHC Dragons. In 2011, he won the Golden Stick (in the category junior male players), a Belgian award for year's best field hockey player. In 2014, he transferred to Kampong in Utrecht. After one year, he returned to Braxgata. International career Luypaert became European champions with the Belgium U21 squad in 2012. Antoine Kina
Antoine Sylvain Kina (born 13 February 1996) is a Belgian professional field hockey player who plays as a midfielder or forward for Gantoise and the Belgium national team. He is the son of Belgian field hockey coach Pascal Kina. Club career Kina played for Gantoise until 2017, when he moved to the Waterloo Ducks. After one season with the Waterloo Ducks, he returned to Gantoise. International career Kina made his debut for the Belgium under-21 side at the 2014 EuroHockey Junior Championship where they finished fourth. Arthur Anne-Marie Thierry De Sloover (born 3 May 1997) is a Belgian professional field hockey player who plays as a defender for Men's Hoofdklasse Hockey, Dutch Hoofdklasse club HC Oranje-Rood, Oranje-Rood and the Belgium men's national field hockey team, Belgium national team. Simon Pierre F. Gougnard (born 17 January 1991) is a Belgian professional field hockey player who plays as a midfielder for Racing and the Belgium national team. Club career Gougnard played club hockey in Belgium for the Waterloo Ducks until 2009, when he transferred to the Netherlands to play for TMHC Tilburg. He left them after one season to play for Oranje Zwart. In 2012, he returned to Belgium because of his study. He played in Belgium for Racing Bruxelles. Vincent Vanasch (born 21 December 1987) is a Belgian professional field hockey player who plays as a goalkeeper for Orée and the Belgium national team. Club career Vanasch has been involved in hockey from an early age; his father "Jean" created the youth school of the "Royal Evere White Star Hockey Club". He did all his classes until the first team with which he won several titles (grass and indoor). Thomas Briels
Thomas Briels (born 23 August 1987) is a Belgian field hockey player who plays as a forward for Dutch Hoofdklasse club Oranje-Rood. He played a total of 359 times for the Belgium national team from 2006 until 2021. Club career Briels started playing at Dragons when he was around five years old. Alexander Robby Hendrickx (born 6 August 1993) is a Belgian field hockey player who plays for Dutch club Pinoké and the Belgian national team as a defender. Playing with thY1 HockeyLTD X, Hendrickx won 'top goal scorer' at the 2020 Tokyo Olympics. He also won a gold medal with his team for Belgium. Augustin Jean Meurmans (born 29 May 1997) is a Belgian field hockey player who plays as a midfielder for Racing Club de Bruxelles. International career He was part of the Belgian selection that placed for the final at the 2017 European Championship in Amstelveen. Initially, he was not selected for the 2018 World Cup but he replaced John-John Dohmen later in the tournament who had to withdraw injured.
