Beaver County, Utah Territory
Beaver County is a County (United States), county in west central Utah, United States. As of the 2010 United States Census, the population was 6,629. Its county seat and largest city is Beaver, Utah, Beaver. The county was named for the abundance of American beaver, beaver in the area. History Explorers of European descent first visited present-day Beaver County in 1776 Dominguez–Escalante Expedition, Domínguez-Escalante Expedition. The proposed territory of Deseret (soon changed to Utah Territory) began with the arrival of Mormon pioneers in 1847. After the immediate Great Salt Lake City area was settled, settlers moved into more outlying areas, including the future Beaver County area. The county was created by the Utah Territory, Utah territorial legislature from a section of Iron County on January 5, 1856, before the settlement of Beaver town was founded later that year. Beaver County Courthouse (Beaver, Utah)
The Beaver County Courthouse is a historic building in Beaver, Utah, Beaver, Utah, United States, that is listed on the National Register of Historic Places (NRHP). Description The courthouse was built in 1882 in a Late Victorian architectural style. It was listed on the National Register of Historic Places in 1970. Construction took place from 1876 to 1882, and a vault and jail were added to the rear in later years. It is a two-story red brick building, with basement and attic, built upon foundation of whitewashed sandstone. It is in plan, not including the rear additions. With The building later became home to the Beaver DUP Courthouse Museum, operated in the summer by the Daughters of Utah Pioneers. The NRHP document states that the architect is unknown, but it was designed by architect Richard Kletting. Fishlake National Forest
Fishlake National Forest is a U.S. National Forest located in south central Utah. The namesake for the forest is Fish Lake, the largest freshwater mountain lake in the state. Iron County is a county in southwestern Utah, United States. As of the 2010 United States Census, the population was 46,163. Its county seat is Parowan, and the largest city is Cedar City. Sevier County ( ) is a county in Utah, United States. As of the 2010 United States Census, the population was 20,802. Its county seat and largest city is Richfield. History Evidence of indigenous peoples residing in Sevier County up to 5,000 BP has been unearthed. The Fremont culture of Native Americans occupied the area from about 2000 to 700 BP. Millard County, Utah
Millard County ( ) is a county in the U.S. state of Utah. As of the 2010 United States Census, the population was 12,503. Its county seat is Fillmore, and the largest city is Delta. History The Utah Territory legislature created the county on October 4, 1851, with territory not previously covered by county creations and including some area in the future state of Nevada. It was named for the thirteenth US President Millard Fillmore, who was in office then. Fillmore was designated as the county seat. The county boundaries were altered in 1852 and again in 1854. On March 2, 1861, the US government created the Nevada Territory, which effectively de-annexed the described portion of Millard County falling in that Territorial Proclamation.
