Baki The Grappler (manga)
, known as ''Baki the Grappler'' in North America, is a Japanese manga series written and illustrated by Keisuke Itagaki. It was originally serialized in the ''shōnen'' manga magazine ''Weekly Shōnen Champion'' from 1991 to 1999 and collected into 42 ''tankōbon'' volumes by Akita Shoten. The story follows teenager Baki Hanma as he trains and tests his fighting skills against a variety of different opponents in deadly, no rules hand-to-hand combat. Keisuke Itagaki
is a Japanese manga artist. He is best known for his martial arts series ''Grappler Baki'' (1991–1999) and its four sequels, which have sold over 75 million volumes. In 1996, he began working on '' Garōden'', an original work by Baku Yumemakura. He has also collaborated on the series ''Garōden Boy''. Prior to becoming a manga artist, he served five years in the 1st Airborne Brigade of the Japan Ground Self-Defense Force.
