Assam State Premier League
Assam State Premier League (ASPL) is the state-level top division football league in the Indian state of Assam, organised by the Assam Football Association and the Guwahati Sports Association. The inaugural edition of the league started in 2008 with Assam Rifles SC winning its first title. Competition structure The winner of Assam State Premier League gets promoted to I-League 2, and the last position team gets relegated to the Assam Club Championship. From 2015 season the league has been revamped with the new format. The teams have been divided into two zones - Upper Assam and Lower Assam. The league began with the group stage on home and away basis. The top four teams from each zone qualified for the quarterfinals. Most recent teams The 12 clubs of ASPL are divided into two zones. The Assam Football Association (AFA) is one of the 37 Indian State Football Associations that are affiliated to the All India Football Federation. It governs association football in the state of Assam, India and also administers the Assam men's and women's football teams. Naba Kumar Doley is in the charge of current president and Dr. Sangrang Brahma is the general secretary of Assam FA. History Assam Football Association was formed in 1946, but the game of football has been played since before independence of India. It is affiliated to the AIFF, Assam council of sports and Assam Olympic Association. Manipur was part of Assam Football Association, until they got the affiliation from AIFF in 1973. Moranhat
Moranhat (IPA: ˈmɔːrænˌhɑːt) is a town and a town area committee in Charaideo district in the Indian state of Assam.The town is divided by N.H 37 into Charaideo and DibrugarH district. Etymology The place used to be a trade centre where the people from Moran tribe used to visit in order to sell their products in the north of Dihing which was located in the Chutiya kingdom. Indira Gandhi Athletic Stadium
Indira Gandhi Athletic Stadium, also known as Sarusajai Stadium, is a football stadium in Guwahati, Assam, India. It is the current home ground of NorthEast United FC. Besides hosting football matches, the stadium is also used for athletics. It had a total capacity of 35,000 which was later reduced to 25,000 due to installation of bucket seats for 2017 FIFA U-17 World Cup, which was hosted in India. In 2007, it hosted the 33rd National Games of India and in 2016, hosted the 12th South Asian Games. Nehru Maidan or Oil India Ground is a multi-purpose sport stadium used mostly for football matches, located in Duliajan, Assam. The ground is owned and managed by Oil India. Assam Police Blues (formerly known as both Assam Police football team and Assam Police AC) is an Indian institutional football club based in Guwahati, Assam. The club competes in the GSA Super Division Football League, Bordoloi Trophy, ATPA Shield and other major state club tournaments. It previously participated in the Assam State Premier League and won the title in 2013–14 season. History The Assam Police football team has very rich and memorable history. Oil India Football Club is an Indian professional football club from Duliajan in Assam. The club was founded by Oil India in 1964. It also participated in I-League 2nd Division, then second tier football tournament of Indian football league system, for three seasons. Oil India FC was nominated by Assam Football Association for the 2021 I-League Qualifiers but didn't make it to the final list approved by the AIFF. Green Valley Football Club (simply known as FC Green Valley) is an Indian professional football club based in Guwahati, Assam. Formed in 2010, the club went straight into professional football and got accepted into the I-League 2, the third tier of Indian football league system.
