Assam Police Blues
Assam Police Blues (formerly known as both Assam Police football team and Assam Police AC) is an Indian institutional football club based in Guwahati, Assam. The club competes in the GSA Super Division Football League, Bordoloi Trophy, ATPA Shield and other major state club tournaments. It previously participated in the Assam State Premier League and won the title in 2013–14 season. History The Assam Police football team has very rich and memorable history. The club was formed as ''Assam Police AC'' and based in Dergaon at the Assam Police Reserve. In 1971, the team defeated the Calcutta giant Mohammedan SC in the final of the Bordoloi Trophy. In 1981, they shocked Goa's Dempo SC in that premier tournament's final. Nehru Stadium, Guwahati
Nehru Stadium is a multi-purpose stadium in Guwahati, Assam, India. It was built in 1962 and holds the capacity of 15,000 spectators. Radha Govinda Baruah supervised, constructed and named it as ''Nehru Stadium''. The stadium is operated by the Board of Sports of Assam, Government of Assam. Bodoland Martyrs Gold Cup is a association football, football league cup in the Bodoland Territorial Region, Assam, India, organised by Kokrajhar District Sports Association (KDSA) in memory of Bodoland martyrs, who sacrificed their lives for the cause of Bodoland movement. The 21st edition of the tournament was won by United Chirang Duar FC, Runikatha by defeating Baarhoongkha Athletic Club, Kokrajhar 1–0 in the final, played at Banargaon Jaiklong Sports Club ground. Gilbertson Sangma (born 12 April 1955) is a former Indian Association football, footballer. He played as a Forward (association football), striker. Sangma was regarded as "Man with golden boot" by the leading daily ''Hindustan Times'' because of his skill, agility and stamina. Playing career Sangma received early lessons of football at the Assam Police Reserve in Dergaon.
