Gilbertson Sangma
Gilbertson Sangma (born 12 April 1955) is a former Indian Association football, footballer. He played as a Forward (association football), striker. Sangma was regarded as "Man with golden boot" by the leading daily ''Hindustan Times'' because of his skill, agility and stamina. Playing career Sangma received early lessons of football at the Assam Police Reserve in Dergaon. Assam In 1973, he began his senior career in the Inter District Football Championships by representing Golaghat. He was selected immediately in the Assam football team, Assam state team for the Santosh Trophy. In 1974–75 Santosh Trophy, 1974–75, he scored the goal that knocked out the defending champions Kerala football team, Kerala and took Assam to the quarter-final. Dibrugarh (pron: ˌdɪbru:ˈgɑ:) is an industrial city in Upper Assam with sprawling tea gardens. It is located 435 kms East from the state capital of Dispur. Bordoloi Trophy
The Bordoloi Trophy, also known as the Bharat Ratna Lokopriya Gopinath Bordoloi Trophy, is a premier annual Indian football tournament held in Guwahati and organized by Guwahati Sports Association (GSA). The tournament was first started in 1952 and is named after Assam's first chief minister Gopinath Bordoloi. Apart from some top clubs from India, clubs from Nepal, Bangladesh and Thailand have also participated in this championship. Abahani Limited of Bangladesh lifted the 2010 trophy. Mohun Bagan AC of Kolkata has won the tournament for record seven times. Guwahati Sports Association had announced that the 68th edition of the Bordoloi Trophy football tournament was going to be held from March 24, 2022. The Assam Tea Planters' Association Shield, commonly known as the A.T.P.A. Shield, is an annual Indian association football tournament held in Jorhat, Assam and organised by Jorhat District Sports Association (JDSA). It is one of the esteemed and the third oldest football tournament of Assam after Independence Day Cup and Bordoloi Trophy.
