2011 AFC Asian Cup Squads
This article lists the confirmed national football squads for the 2011 AFC Asian Cup tournament held in Qatar between 7 January and 29 January 2011. Before announcing their final squad, several teams named a provisional squad of 23 to 30 players, but each country's final squad of 23 players had to be submitted by 28 December 2010. Replacement of injured players was permitted until 6 hours before the team's first Asian Cup game. Players marked (Captain (association football), c) were named as captain for their national squad. Number of caps counts until the start of the tournament, including all pre-tournament friendlies. Player's age is their age on the opening day of the tournament. Qatar
Qatar (, ; ar, قطر, Qaṭar ; local vernacular pronunciation: ), officially the State of Qatar,) is a country in Western Asia. Fábio César Montezine ( ar, فابيو سيزار مونتيزين; born 24 February 1979 in Londrina, Brazil) is a naturalized Qatari football player who is currently playing for Umm Salal in the Qatari league and for the Qatar national football team. Ali Hassan Afif Yahya ( ar, علي حسن عفيف يحيى; born 20 January 1988) is a Qatari footballer. He currently plays as a left-back for Al-Duhail. Personal Afif has six siblings. His father, Hassan Afif, is of Somali descent and was born in Moshi, Tanzania. His father previously played for Simba in Tanzania and Horseed in Somalia before relocating to Qatar and playing for Al Ittihad. He was later naturalized. Al-Duhail Sports Club ( ar, نادي الدحيل الرياضي), formerly Lekhwiya SC, is a Qatari sports club, best known for its football team, which plays in the Qatar Stars League. Umm Salal Sport Club ( ar, نادي أم صلال الرياضي) is a Qatari professional football club based in Umm Salal, that competes in the Qatar Stars League, the highest tier of Qatari football. It used to be known as Al-Tadamun Sport Club. It is best known for being the first Qatari club to make it to the semi-finals of the AFC Champions League. History Umm Salal were formed in 1979 under the name ''Al-Tadamun Club'' and entered into the Qatari Second Division along with five other clubs.
