Lekhwiya
Al-Duhail Sports Club ( ar, نادي الدحيل الرياضي), formerly Lekhwiya SC, is a Qatari sports club, best known for its football team, which plays in the Qatar Stars League. The club is based in the Duhail district in the city of Doha and plays its home games at Abdullah bin Khalifa Stadium. It is the first team in Qatari football to win the first division title on its debut season. In April 2017, it was announced that the club would take over El Jaish SC and merge with following the 2016–17 Qatar Stars League and be known as Al-Duhail Sports Club in rebranding of Lekhwiya SC. 2016–17 Qatar Stars League
The 2016–17 Qatari League, also known as Qatari Stars League, is the 44th edition of top level football championship in Qatar. The season began on 15 September 2016 and concluded on 27 April 2017. Al-Rayyan are the defending champions having won their eighth championship and Lekhwiya won the league title. Al-Muaither and Al-Shahania have entered as the two promoted teams from the 2015–16 Qatargas League and they both got relegated this season. El Jaish SC
El-Jaish Sports Club ( ar, نادي الجيش الرياضي) was a Qatari multi-sports club from 2011 to 2017, based in the Al-Duhail area of Doha. The association football team played in the Qatar Stars League. The team won the Qatargas League prior to 2011, but were not eligible for promotion and as a result were not declared as the champions of the league. It was promoted to the first division, the Stars League, the first year after it was made eligible. The club also had participations in other sports, most notably in handball where its team has previously achieved 3rd place in both, the GCC Handball Championship, and the Asian Club Handball Championship. The 2010-11 Qatari League or Qatari Stars League season was the 38th edition of the top level football championship in Qatar and started in September. Teams Al-Shamal were relegated to the second-level league after finishing bottom in the 2009–10 Qatar Stars League campaign. Nam Tae-Hee
Nam Tae-hee (Hangul: 남태희; Hanja: 南泰熙; ; born 3 July 1991 in Busan) is a South Korean footballer currently playing for Al-Duhail and the South Korea national team. Besides South Korea, he has played in England, France, and Qatar. He is a versatile midfielder and can play as attacking midfielder or central midfielder. He is known for his honed technique, smooth movement, and dribbling. Club career Nam played in the Reading's Youth Academy through KFA Youth Project. In July 2009, his first professional contract signed in France with Valenciennes FC. Al Duhail Handball Team ( ar, فريق الدحيل لكرة اليد), formerly Lekhwiya, is the handball team of Al-Duhail SC, based in the capital city of Doha, Qatar. It currently competes in the Qatar Handball League (QHL) and was founded in 2013. It plays its home games at the Abdullah bin Khalifa Stadium. History The idea to form Lekhwiya's handball division began in April 2012 when the Qatar Handball Federation wanted to increase the number of teams participating in the league. Lekhwiya were presented with an opportunity to form a handball team and participate in the first division, and the president of the club, Abdullah Al Thani, accepted. Jabbes Ibrahim was selected as the first coach of the team. In April 2017, the club took over El Jaish SC and rebranded the club into Al-Duhail SC. Abdullah Bin Khalifa Stadium
The Abdullah bin Khalifa Stadium, formerly known as Duhail Stadium, is a football stadium in Doha, Qatar. History The construction of the stadium was set in 2011 and completed by February 2013. The first phase was completed in May 2012. The stadium was officially inaugurated on 15 February 2013 with the first match taking place in the stadium being a Qatar Stars League fixture with the home team Lekhwiya facing off against Al Khor. The Qatar Stars League ( ar, دوري نجوم قطر), or the QSL, also called QNB Stars League for sponsorship reasons, is the top level football league in Qatar football league system. Contested by 12 teams, it operates on a system of promotion and relegation with the Qatari Second Division (QSD). Seasons of the QSL usually run from September to April. Emir of Qatar Cup ( ar, كأس أمير قطر), also known as the Emir Cup, but changed to Amir Cup starting in 2019, is an association football tournament played every season by 18 first and second division teams. The most successful is Al Sadd who won the tournament 18 times. Emir of Qatar Cup was played for the first time in 1972, and was won by Al Ahli. History Al Ahli SC won the first ever Emir of Qatar Cup, defeating Al-Rayyan SC 6-1 under the leadership of Sudanese coach Mohammed Kheiri.
