2022 World University Games Qualifier
The 2022 World University Games Qualifier was held from September 22 to 25 at the RA Centre in Ottawa, Ontario. This one-time event was used to select Canada's representatives for the 2023 Winter World University Games, as the 2022 U Sports/Curling Canada University Curling Championships was cancelled due to the COVID-19 pandemic. The winning team on both the men's and women's sides will represent Canada at the 2023 Winter World University Games. Queen's University at Kingston, commonly known as Queen's University or simply Queen's, is a public research university in Kingston, Ontario, Canada. Gabriel Dyck
Gabriel Dyck (born July 21, 1999) is a Canadian curler from Edmonton, Alberta. He is currently the lead of the Alberta Golden Bears men's curling team in university curling and on the World Curling Tour. Curling career Dyck won two provincial U18 championships, in 2016 and 2018. Dyck played second along with Ryan Jacques, Zachary Pawliuk, and Michael Henricks at the 2016 U18 International Curling Championships in Edmonton, AB. Dyck, at second, again represented Alberta at the 2018 Canadian U18 Championships in St. Andrews, New Brunswick along with Ryan Jacques, Dustin Mikush and Michael Henricks. Andrew Gittis
Andrew Gittis (born November 2, 1998) is a Canadian curler from Edmonton, Alberta. He is currently the second of the Alberta Golden Bears men's curling team in university curling and on the World Curling Tour. Gittis is a dual citizen of the United States and Canada, and is now living in Canada full-time. Curling career Gittis began his curling career in Pennsylvania where he learned to curl. He represented Massachusetts at the 2016 U18 International Curling Championships, finishing in 7th place. The next year, Gittis reached the 2017 USA Junior Curling nationals and the 2017 USA U18 Curling Nationals where his team won the bronze medal, and he won the sportsmanship award as voted on by fellow curlers. Desmond Young (born March 6, 2000, in Frederiction, New Brunswick) is a Canadian curler from Banff, Alberta. He is currently the third of the Alberta Golden Bears men's curling team in university curling and on the World Curling Tour. Young will represent Canada at the 2021 World Junior Curling Championships in Beijing, China. Curling career Young made his Canadian national championship debut at the 2019 New Holland Canadian Juniors after defeating Evan Van Amsterdam 8–7 in the Alberta junior provincial final. At the Canadian Juniors, Young led his rink of Dustin Mikush, Jacob Libbus, and Gabriel Dyck to a 3–3 record in pool play before defeating Ontario's Samuel Steep in a tiebreaker. Ryan Jacques (born June 19, 2000) is a Canadian curler from Edmonton, Alberta. He is currently the skip of the Alberta Golden Bears men's curling team in university curling and on the World Curling Tour. Jacques was slated to represent Canada at the 2021 World Junior Curling Championships in Beijing, China, but the event was cancelled due to the COVID-19 pandemic. Queen's Golden Gaels
The Queen's Gaels (also known as the Queen's Golden Gaels) is the Athletics program representing Queen's University at Kingston in Kingston, Ontario, Canada. Team colours are blue, red, and gold. The main athletics facilities include Richardson Memorial Stadium, the Queen's Athletics and Recreation Centre, Nixon Field and Tindall Field.
