2019 IFSC Combined Qualifier
The 2019 IFSC Combined Qualifier was an Olympic Qualifying Event. It was held from 28 November to 1 December 2019 in Toulouse, France. It was organized by the French Federation of Sport Climbing and Mountaineering or FFME (Federation Francaise Montagne Escalade). The athletes competed in combined format of three disciplines: speed, bouldering, and lead, simulating the 2020 Olympics format. Six athletes per gender would qualify for the 2020 Tokyo Olympics through this event. The winner for men was Kokoro Fujii and for women was Futaba Ito. Qualification for the 2020 Summer Olympics The six best climbers of the combined event automatically qualify for the 2020 Summer Olympics, where sport climbing will make its debut. There are six spots available per gender, with a maximum of two spots per country. Jongwon Chon
Chon Jong-won (born February 7, 1996) is a South Korean sport climber, who won the IFSC Climbing World Cup in 2015 and 2017 in the bouldering discipline. Biography In 2012 Chon participated in his first international youth competitions. In 2013 he won second place in the Asian youth championships. Since 2014 he climbs as an adult in the Bouldering World Cup. In his first season, he reached the finals twice and won fourth place both times. He finished the season at rank 9. Chon reached the finals of the IFSC World Cup four times in 2015 and finished 6th in Toronto, 2nd in Chongquing, 1st in Haiyang, and 3rd in Munich. William Bosi
William (Will) Bosi (born 27 December 1998) is a Scottish professional rock climber specializing in sport climbing, bouldering and competition climbing. Bosi is only the second British sport climber in history to redpoint a graded sport climbing route (''King Capella'' in 2021), and by 2023, was one of only a small group of climbers in the world to have completed a boulder (''Alphane'' in 2022, '' Burden of Dreams'' in 2023, and ''Return of the Sleepwalker'' in 2024). Stefano Ghisolfi (born February 18, 1993) is an Italian professional rock climber and sport climber. He participates in international climbing competitions in three disciplines: lead, bouldering, and speed, and has had his best results in lead climbing. As a rock climber, he had redpointed routes of grade , onsighted routes of and solved boulders at grade . Sean Bailey (born May 20, 1996) is an American professional climber. He represents the United States at IFSC Climbing World Cup in lead, and has two podium finishes at Boulder World Cups, including a win at Salt Lake City in May 2021 and three in lead, including two gold medals, at Villars and Chamonix in July 2021. 2019 IFSC Climbing World Championships
The 2019 IFSC Climbing World Championships, the 16th edition, were held in Hachioji, Japan from 11 to 21 August 2019. The championships consisted of lead, speed, bouldering, and combined events. The paraclimbing event was held separately from 16 to 17 July in Briançon, France. The combined event also served as an Olympic qualifying event for the 2020 Summer Olympics. 2019 IFSC Climbing World Cup
The 2019 IFSC Climbing World Cup was held in 12 locations. Bouldering, lead and speed competitions were each held in 6 locations. The season began on 5 April in Meiringen, Switzerland with the first bouldering competition in the season, and concluded on 27 October in Inzai, Japan, with the last lead climbing competition in the season. The top 3 in each competition received medals, and the overall winners were awarded trophies. At the end of the season an overall ranking was determined based upon points, which athletes were awarded for finishing in the top 30 of each individual event. Olympic qualification For the Tokyo 2020 Olympics athletes can qualify through either the IFSC Combined World Championships, the Olympic Qualifying Event or the Continental Championships.
