Sean Bailey (climber)
Sean Bailey (born May 20, 1996) is an American professional climber. He represents the United States at IFSC Climbing World Cup in lead, and has two podium finishes at Boulder World Cups, including a win at Salt Lake City in May 2021 and three in lead, including two gold medals, at Villars and Chamonix in July 2021. Early life and youth competitions Bailey was born in Seattle and began climbing at age 5 with parents, who were both climbers. He began competing with the youth team at the Vertical World climbing gym and won the USA Climbing Sport Climbing Series Youth National Championship at age 17. Senior competitions At age 17, Bailey won the American Bouldering Series, the senior national bouldering competition in the United States. He also won the 2018 USA Climbing Sport and Speed Nationals and the 2019 USA Climbing Bouldering Nationals. Sport Climbing At The 2020 Summer Olympics
Sport climbing made its Olympic debut at the 2020 Summer Olympics in Tokyo, Japan . Two events were held, one each for men and women. The format controversially consisted of one combined event with three disciplines: lead climbing, speed climbing and bouldering. The medals were determined based on best performance across all three disciplines. This format was previously tested at the 2018 Summer Youth Olympics. The Olympic code for sports climbing is CLB. Two qualification boulders were leaked on YouTube; the video was quickly taken down and the boulders were reset. Stefano Ghisolfi (born February 18, 1993) is an Italian professional rock climber and sport climber. He participates in international climbing competitions in three disciplines: lead, bouldering, and speed, and has had his best results in lead climbing. As a rock climber, he had redpointed routes of grade , onsighted routes of and solved boulders at grade . Alexander Megos (born 12 August 1993) is a German rock climber. He was the first climber to on-sight (climb on the first try without prior practice or advice) a route graded . He has completed multiple routes and boulder problems that are notoriously difficult, including two routes (''Perfecto Mundo'' and ''Bibliographie''), six routes (''First Round, First Minute'', ''Fight Club,'' ''King Capella,'' ''Ratstaman Vibrations,'' and ''The Full Journey''), and some boulders with a confirmed rating. ''Bibliographie'' is a circa sport climbing route on a limestone cliff on the southern face of Céüse mountain, near Gap and Sigoyer, in France. The route was bolted in 2009 by Ethan Pringle, and was first ascended by Alexander Megos on 5 August 2020. Megos initially graded the route as , the highest difficulty at that time. The route was repeated on 24 August 2021 by Stefano Ghisolfi, who graded the route as , which has become the consensus grade for ''Bibliographie'', making it only the fifth-ever climb in history at a grade of 9b+. History ''Bibliographie'' was bolted by the American climber Ethan Pringle in 2009, and it lies just a few metres to the right of Chris Sharma's famous 2001 '' Realization/Biography'' route. Little Cottonwood Canyon
Little Cottonwood Canyon lies within the Wasatch-Cache National Forest along the eastern side of the Salt Lake Valley, roughly 15 miles from Salt Lake City, Utah. The canyon is part of Granite, a CDP and "Community Council" designated by Salt Lake County. The canyon is a glacial trough ("U" shaped canyon), carved by an alpine glacier during the last ice age, 15,000 to 25,000 years ago. A number of rare and endemic plant species are found in the canyon's Albion Basin. Mountain goats inhabit the surrounding mountains. Oliana is a municipality in the ''comarca'' of the Alt Urgell in Catalonia, Spain. It is situated in the Segre valley immediately below the Oliana reservoir.
