Icelandic Basketball League System
The Icelandic basketball league system, or Icelandic basketball league pyramid, is a series of League system, interconnected competitions for basketball clubs in Iceland. The system has a hierarchical format with a promotion and relegation, promotion and demotion system between competitions at different levels. Men There are currently four different competitions on the pyramid - the 1st tier Premier League (Iceland), Úrvalsdeild, the 2nd tier First Division Men (Icelandic basketball), Division I, the 3rd tier Division II, and the 4th tier Division III. The leagues are organized by the Icelandic Basketball Association. GuĂ°rĂşn GrĂła ĂžorsteinsdĂłttir
Guðrún Gróa Þorsteinsdóttir (born 21 January 1989) is an Icelandic basketball player and a former power lifter. She won the Icelandic basketball championship two times, in 2010 and 2014, and the Icelandic Basketball Cup once. She was one of the Úrvalsdeild kvenna premier defenders during her career, being named the Úrvalsdeild Defensive Player of the Year four times. Playing career Guðrún started her senior career with KR in 2006 and was a key player in the team's 2010 championship run. She left KR after the 2010-2011 season to focus on her powerlifting career. After one season away, Guðrún returned to KR in September 2012. In June 2013, Guðrún left KR and joined Snæfell. For the season she averaged 10.4 points, 7.3 rebounds and 2.6 assists, and was named to the Úrvalsdeild Domestic All-First Team. She left Snæfell after the season, moving to Denmark. Gunnhildur GunnarsdĂłttir (born 7 August 1990) is an Icelandic basketball player and a former member of the Iceland women's national basketball team, Icelandic national basketball team. During her career, she won the Ăšrvalsdeild kvenna (basketball), Icelandic championship and the Icelandic Women's Basketball Cup, Icelandic Cup twice each. In 2016, she was named the Icelandic Basketball Player of the Year, Icelandic Women's Basketball Player of the Year.
