Ä°zmir Metro
Ä°zmir Metro ( tr, Ä°zmir Metrosu) is a metro system in Ä°zmir, Turkey that is in the process of being extended with new stations being put in service. The current system, consisting of one line, starts from Fahrettin Altay station Göztepe in the southern portion of the metropolitan area and runs towards northeast to end at Evka-3 in Bornova. Ä°zmir's metro line is long, and serves 17 stations as of 26 July 2014. Overview By 1990, it was thought that the existing public transport system in Izmir could no longer support the growing population. A plan was thought of to build a rapid transit network by rail to cope with this. A contract was signed in 1993, and the handover was in 1994. Construction had begun in 1995 and it was completed successfully in around 4 years. In May 2000, the system came into public service. Konak (Ä°zmir Metro)
Konak is an underground station on the Fahrettin Altay—Evka 3 Line of the İzmir Metro in central Konak. Located just south of Konak Square, it is one of the ten original stations of the metro system. The architecture of the station consists of a main hall with a high ceiling, with mezzanines on both sides. The only other station to share this architecture is Çankaya. Connection to İzdeniz municipal ferries from Konak Terminal as well as ESHOT city bus service is available. Service began on 24 March 2018, connection to the Konak Tram also became possible via Konak İskele station. The northern mezzanine has exits to the Konak Ferry Terminal, Konak Square, while the southern mezzanine has exits to the Konak city bus stops, via an underpass beneath Halil Rıfat Paşa Avenue. Halkapınar Transfer Center ( tr, Halkapınar Aktarma Merkezi), commonly referred to as Halkapınar Metro or just Halkapınar, is a multi-modal transportation complex in İzmir, Turkey. Located in northeast Konak, it is the largest transportation complex in İzmir, as well as the Aegean Region. Bölge is an at-grade station on the Fahrettin Altay—Evka 3 Line of the İzmir Metro in Bornova. It is located in the Kazımdirik neighborhood adjacent to Üniversite Avenue and just south of the State road D.300 (Turkey), D.300 state highway. Bornova is a station on the currently operating line of the İzmir Metro. It is located near the former Bornova railway station between Ankara and University Avenues. Ege Ãœniversitesi is an underground station on the Fahrettin Altay-Evka 3 Line of the Ä°zmir Metro in Bornova. It is located within the campus of Ege University near the site of the former Ege Ãœniversitesi railway station. The metro station was opened on 20 March 2012 as part of the eastward extension from Bornova to Evka 3. History Ege Ãœniversitesi was originally a station on the Bornova suburban line, built in 1979 by the Turkish State Railways. The site of this station was located about south of the current station near the university's Science Faculty building. Elektrik Su Havagazı Otobüs Troleybüs ( en, Electricity, Water, Coal Gas, Bus, Trolleybus) or ESHOT is a bus service operating in the İzmir. Evka 3 (Ä°zmir Metro)
Evka 3 is the eastern terminus of the M1 (İzmir Metro), F. Altay—Evka 3 Line of the İzmir Metro. The station opened on 30 March 2012, along with Ege Üniversitesi (İzmir Metro), Ege Üniversitesi station, as part of a eastward expansion.
