Evka 3 (İzmir Metro)
Evka 3 is the eastern terminus of the M1 (İzmir Metro), F. Altay—Evka 3 Line of the İzmir Metro. The station opened on 30 March 2012, along with Ege Üniversitesi (İzmir Metro), Ege Üniversitesi station, as part of a eastward expansion. The line is expected to be extended further, this time back west, from Evka 3 to central Bornova. Evka 3 consists of two side platforms serving two tracks. İzmir Metro ( tr, İzmir Metrosu) is a metro system in İzmir, Turkey that is in the process of being extended with new stations being put in service. The current system, consisting of one line, starts from Fahrettin Altay station Göztepe in the southern portion of the metropolitan area and runs towards northeast to end at Evka-3 in Bornova. İzmir's metro line is long, and serves 17 stations as of 26 July 2014. Overview By 1990, it was thought that the existing public transport system in Izmir could no longer support the growing population. A plan was thought of to build a rapid transit network by rail to cope with this. A contract was signed in 1993, and the handover was in 1994. M1 (İzmir Metro)
The M1, also known as the Fahrettin Altay–Evka 3 Line ( tr, Fahrettin Altay–Evka 3 Hattı), is the only active line of the İzmir Metro in İzmir, İzmir, Turkey. The line runs from Fahrettin Altay (İzmir Metro), Fahrettin Altay station in the west to Evka 3 (İzmir Metro), Evka 3 station in the east, consisting of 17 stations. Construction of the first stage of line began in 1992 and was completed in 2000, consisting of 10 initial stations. Ege Üniversitesi (İzmir Metro)
Ege Üniversitesi is an underground station on the Fahrettin Altay-Evka 3 Line of the İzmir Metro in Bornova. It is located within the campus of Ege University near the site of the former Ege Üniversitesi railway station. The metro station was opened on 20 March 2012 as part of the eastward extension from Bornova to Evka 3. History Ege Üniversitesi was originally a station on the Bornova suburban line, built in 1979 by the Turkish State Railways. The site of this station was located about south of the current station near the university's Science Faculty building. The State Railway operated commuter trains from Basmane station in Konak to Ege University, via central Bornova.
