Ege Üniversitesi (İzmir Metro)
Ege Üniversitesi is an underground station on the Fahrettin Altay-Evka 3 Line of the İzmir Metro in Bornova. It is located within the campus of Ege University near the site of the former Ege Üniversitesi railway station. The metro station was opened on 20 March 2012 as part of the eastward extension from Bornova to Evka 3. History Ege Üniversitesi was originally a station on the Bornova suburban line, built in 1979 by the Turkish State Railways. The site of this station was located about south of the current station near the university's Science Faculty building. The State Railway operated commuter trains from Basmane station in Konak to Ege University, via central Bornova. The station, along with the line east of Bornova station, was closed down in 1990 at the request of the university directorate. İzmir Metro
İzmir Metro ( tr, İzmir Metrosu) is a metro system in İzmir, Turkey that is in the process of being extended with new stations being put in service. The current system, consisting of one line, starts from Fahrettin Altay station Göztepe in the southern portion of the metropolitan area and runs towards northeast to end at Evka-3 in Bornova. İzmir's metro line is long, and serves 17 stations as of 26 July 2014. Overview By 1990, it was thought that the existing public transport system in Izmir could no longer support the growing population. A plan was thought of to build a rapid transit network by rail to cope with this. A contract was signed in 1993, and the handover was in 1994. Construction had begun in 1995 and it was completed successfully in around 4 years. In May 2000, the system came into public service. Bornova is a metropolitan district of İzmir in İzmir Province in Turkey. It is the third largest district in İzmir's Greater Metropolitan Area of and is almost fully urbanized at the rate of 98.6 percent, with corresponding high levels of development in terms of industry and services. Ege University
Ege University or Aegean University ( tr, Ege Üniversitesi) is a public research university in Bornova, İzmir. It was founded in 1955 with the faculties of Medicine and Agriculture. It is the first university to start courses in İzmir and the fourth oldest university in Turkey. Bornova (İzmir Metro)
Bornova is a station on the currently operating line of the İzmir Metro. It is located near the former Bornova railway station between Ankara and University Avenues. Evka 3 is the eastern terminus of the M1 (İzmir Metro), F. Altay—Evka 3 Line of the İzmir Metro. Basmane Railway Station
Basmane railway station ( tr, Basmane Garı) is an intercity and regional railway terminal and rapid transit station in İzmir, Turkey. Along with Alsancak station, Basmane is one of two railway terminals in the city.
