Quadruple-track Railway
A quadruple-track railway (also known as a four-track railway) is a railway line consisting of four parallel tracks with two tracks used in each direction. Quadruple-track railways can handle large amounts of traffic, and so are used on very busy routes or sections. Such conversion is referred to as "quadruplication". A railway line with six parallel tracks, or a sextuple-track railway, has three tracks in each direction. The corresponding term is "sextuplication". There are also instances of railway lines or sections with eight tracks, and cases with three or five tracks. Advantages * Quadruple track can carry a larger amount of traffic, with usually at least twice the capacity of double track. It is often seen around large metropolises or on busy inter-city corridors. * On quadruple track, faster trains can overtake slower ones, and so quadrupling help speed up trains. Cathiron WCML
Cathiron is a small rural hamlet in Warwickshire, England, within the civil parish of Harborough Magna, consisting of around six scattered dwellings along Cathiron Lane, a minor country lane between Harborough Magna and Brinklow. It is northwest of the town of Rugby. The West Coast Main Line railway line passes through the settlement, but there is no station. Maitland Railway Station
Maitland railway station is located on the Main Northern line in New South Wales, Australia. It serves the city of Maitland opening on in 1880 as West Maitland being renamed on 1 April 1949. It is the junction station for the Main Northern and North Coast lines. It was added to the New South Wales State Heritage Register on 2 April 1999. History The Great Northern Railway was built through Maitland in the 1850s and extended to Lochinvar in July 1860. The HSL 2 (french: Ligne à Grande Vitesse (LGV) 2, nl, Hogesnelheidslijn 2, en, High-Speed Line 2) is a Belgian high-speed rail line between Leuven and Ans (near Liège) and is long, all of it on dedicated high-speed tracks, which began service on 15 December 2002. The Brussels S-train, also known as the Brussels Regional Express Network (french: Réseau Express Régional Bruxellois or RER); ( nl, Gewestelijk ExpresNet or GEN) is a suburban rail system in the Brussels Capital Region. It will offer fast connections and increased frequency within a 30 km radius of the city, covering a territory inhabited by 2.5 million people.
