Zlatý Slavík
Zlatý slavík () was a Czechoslovak music poll and award of the same name established by the magazine '' Mladý svět'' in 1962, and broadcast on television. It was held until 1991, when Český slavík took its place. After the dissolution of Czechoslovakia at the end of 1992 and its division into Czechia and Slovakia, the latter got its own award, named Slovenský slávik. Karel Gott was both the first and most highly decorated recipient of Zlatý slavík. Eva Pilarová
Eva Pilarová, née Bojanovská (9 August 1939 – 14 March 2020) was a Czech (people), Czech jazz and pop music singer. Biography Pilarová was born in Brno. She started singing during her childhood, including classical music. She studied singing at the Janáček Academy of Arts in Brno. Her idols were Ella Fitzgerald and Louis Armstrong. In 1960, she became a member of the Semafor (theater), Semafor Theater in Prague where she sang alongside performers such as Jiří Suchý and Jiří Šlitr. In 1962 she left the theatre temporarily to sing in the Theater Rokoko, but in 1964 returned to Semafor. In the same year she also had a minor role in the film ''If a Thousand Clarinets'' (as a chorus-singer of the girl school). During her singing career she has had a large number of hits, including duets with Waldemar Matuška, Karel Gott and others. Slávik Awards
Slávik () was a Slovak music poll and award established by the company Forza—which organizes the Miss Slovakia beauty pageant—in 1998, as a successor to Czechoslovakia's Zlatý slavík, which ran from 1962 until 1991. The annual event was broadcast live through the television channels Markíza from 1998 to 2010 and TV JOJ from 2011 until 2012. Forza dissolved the event a year later due to declining interest. In the poll's previous years, victory had been conditional on receiving at least 34,000 votes, which in the final years had dropped to 5,000. Czechia, formerly part of Czechoslovakia, has its own music award, known as Český slavík (). TEAM (Slovak Band)
Team, sometimes stylized as TEAM, is a Slovak rock band led by Pavol Habera. It was founded in 1980 in the city of Martin, in what was then Czechoslovakia. The band won the Zlatý slavík music award in 1989, 1990, and again in 1991, as well as a ZAI Award in 1990. They have released ten studio albums, three live recordings, and several compilations. History Beginnings Team was founded by guitarist Dušan Antalík, vocalist and keyboard player Milan Dočekal, bassist Ivan Válek, and drummer Ivan Marček in 1980 in the Slovak city of Martin, then part of Czechoslovakia. Citron is a Czech hard rock/heavy metal band founded in Ostrava in 1976. The band's history is divided into two distinct eras: between 1976 and 1981, when their name was spelled with a long "ó", Citrón, and they played mainly blues rock. Dalibor Janda
Dalibor Janda (born 21 March 1953) is a Czech pop and rock singer, lyricist, and composer, whose popularity peaked in the 1980s. Between 1986 and 1988, he won the Zlatý slavík award three years in a row. Career Dalibor Janda, born Václav Janda in Hranice (Přerov District), Hranice, in what was then Czechoslovakia, appeared on the music scene in the late 1970s and his popularity grew quickly. Peter Nagy (singer)
Peter Nagy is a Slovak musician, singer, composer, songwriter, music producer and a photographer. He is one of the most successful singers of the Slovak pop music in the 1980s and the first half of the 1990s. In 1985 he won the Zlatý slávik (Golden Nightingale) award in the category of male singer. Biography Nagy started his musical career as a folk singer; first time he recorded a song in a studio as 17-years-old. His first song which gained massive popularity was ''Profesor Indigo'' (Professor Indigo), recorded in the studio of Slovak Radio in Košice in 1982; however, the song was released only in the following year. Miroslav "Miro" Žbirka (21 October 1952 – 10 November 2021) was a Slovak pop and rock singer and songwriter, widely popular in 1980s Czechoslovakia. Born in Bratislava to a Slovak father and an English mother, he sang in Slovak, English, and Czech. He sometimes recorded in London, but lived in Slovakia and since early 1990s in Prague, Czech Republic, where he died. In the late 1970s, Žbirka co-founded two Czechoslovak pop music bands, Modus and Limit. In 1982, he rose to fame by winning the annual Zlatý slavík award for the best male singer in Czechoslovakia. Miloslav Šimek (7 March 1940 – 16 February 2004) was a Czech comedian and satirist. He was most famous for his double act with Jiří Grossmann on their show ''Návštěvní den'' at the Semafor, presented in 1968–1971.
