Slovenia participated in the Eurovision Song Contest 1997 with the song "Zbudi se" written by Saša Lošić and Zoran Predin. The song was performed by Tanja Ribič. Tanja Ribič
Tanja Ribič (born 28 June 1968) is a Slovenian actress and singer. Biography Ribič graduated from the Academy of Theatre, Radio, Film and Television in Ljubljana. She has been a member of Ljubljana City Theatre since 1992. She represented Slovenia at Eurovision Song Contest 1997 with the song " Zbudi se", which finished tenth. Her most noticeable role on television was when she played Magda Velepič in the Slovenian TV series ''Naša mala klinika''. In April 2009 Ribič and Branko Đurić acted in the movie ''Lunina prva noč'', which was played in English language. In 2014 she was a member of the jury in the TV show ''Znan obraz ima svoj glas''. Radiotelevizija Slovenija ( en, Radio-Television of Slovenia) – usually abbreviated to RTV Slovenija (or simply RTV within Slovenia) – is Slovenia's national public broadcasting organization. Mojmir Sepe
Mojmir Sepe (11 July 1930 – 24 December 2020), nicknamed ''Mojzes'', was a Slovenian composer, conductor, arranger and trumpeter. Career In 1949, he graduated from Celje First Grammar School ( gymnasium) in Celje. Later he studied piano and trumpet at Ljubljana Academy of Music. In 1950, he started his professional music career as a promising trumpet player at Radio Ljubljana Dance Orchestra. In 1956, Sepe married Slovenian singer Majda Sepe. He also established the jazz Mojmir Sepe Band (), which published the first jazz vinyl record in Yugoslavia. His trumpet career ended after an altercation at Opatija Festival '65 when four guys knocked out a couple of his front teeth as he defended her from having her purse stolen. For the 1997 Eurovision Song Contest held in Dublin, Ireland selected Marc Roberts to represent the country with the song "Mysterious Woman". Before Eurovision National final The final took place on 9 March 1997 at the Institute of Technology in Waterford, hosted by Pat Kenny. Eight entries competed in the final and the winner, "Mysterious Woman" performed by Marc Roberts, was determined by the votes of ten regional juries. At Eurovision Ahead of the contest, Ireland were considered one of the favourites among bookmakers to win the contest for a second time, featuring alongside the entries from , , and . Roberts performed 5th in the running order on the night of the contest. "Mysterious Woman" went on to be placed 2nd with 157 points. Vili Resnik (born November 27, 1963) is a Slovenian rock singer and guitarist. Biography Since his youth he was active in various sorts of bands as a guitarist and singer. He also learned to play violin at school. From 1990 to 1995 he was the frontman of the Slovenian rock band Pop Design, with whom he released several albums. He was selected to represent his country at the Eurovision Song Contest 1998 in Birmingham with his ballad "Naj bogovi slišijo". At Eurovision, Resnik ended up in 18th place in the field of 25. Anja Rupel
Anja Rupel (born 19 March 1966) is a Slovene pop singer, songwriter, radio announcer, and journalist. Her father, Fedja Rupel, is a flautist and a professor at the Academy of Music in Ljubljana, and her uncle is the politician and diplomat Dimitrij Rupel. Rupel has been involved in music since childhood. She played the flute for over ten years. In 1982, she began to perform as lead vocalist with the prominent synthpop group Videosex, which became very popular in the former Yugoslavia. The group recorded four albums. Their debut album, ''Videosex 84'' appeared in 1983 and they played with bands such as Ekatarina Velika and Otroci Socializma in Belgrade. The group broke up in 1992. Kajetan Kovič (21 October 1931 – 7 November 2014) was a Slovene poet, writer, translator, and journalist. In 1978, he received the Prešeren Award, the highest artistic award in Slovenia, for his poetry collection ''Labrador.'' Tinkara Kovač (born 3 September 1978) is a Slovenian singer and musician. She represented her country in the Eurovision Song Contest 2014 in Copenhagen, finishing in 25th place.
