Yuancun Station
Yuancun Station () is an interchange station between Line 5 and Line 21 of Guangzhou Metro, and also the terminus of Line 21. It is located under the junction of Huacheng Avenue East () and Yuancun 2nd Cross Road () in Tianhe District. It lies to the east of Zhujiang New Town and to the north of Pazhou, and was opened on 28December 2009. Tianhe District
Tianhe District () is one of the eleven districts of Guangzhou, the capital of Guangdong province. In Chinese, the name Tianhe literally means "a river in the sky/heavens", which is also a Chinese name for the Milky Way. It is bordered by Yuexiu District on the west, Baiyun District on the north and Huangpu District on the east. Haizhu District is on its south, though they are separated by the Pearl River. Tianhe became a district in the 1980s as the city expanded its size. Back then, it was east of Dongshan District (which was merged into Yuexiu in 2005) and retained a suburban or even rural atmosphere. A majority of colleges and universities in the city were located in the district. However, Tianhe District has seen a sharp decline in arable land at an average rate of 1,000 mu per year due to urbanization since 1991. Tianhe Park Station
Tianhe Park station (), is a station of Line 21 of the Guangzhou Metro. It started operations on 20 December 2019. With the opening of Line 11 in 2023, line 21 will be truncated to here from Yuancun, as to allow line 11 trains to serve that station instead. It will also be an interchange station with Line 13 in 2024. Station Layout When fully complete in 2024, the station's total construction area of the station will be 78558 square meters, which is equivalent to 2.3 Gongyuanqian stations and 3.3 Yangji stations. It will also be the largest station on the whole of Guangzhou Metro. Island Platform
An island platform (also center platform, centre platform) is a station layout arrangement where a single platform is positioned between two tracks within a railway station, tram stop or transitway interchange. Island platforms are popular on twin-track routes due to pragmatic and cost reasons. They are also useful within larger stations where local and express services for the same direction of travel can be provided from opposite sides of the same platform thereby simplifying transfers between the two tracks. An alternative arrangement is to position side platforms on either side of the tracks. The historical use of island platforms depends greatly upon the location. Pazhou
Pazhou is a subdistrict of Haizhu in southeastern Guangzhou, Guangdong Province, in China. , formerly Whampoa Island, has a total area of and is the site of Pazhou Pagoda. Its eastern bay was formerly the chief anchorage for ships participating in Guangzhou's foreign trade. Zhujiang New Town
Zhujiang New Town or Zhujiang New City is a central business district in Tianhe District, Guangzhou, Guangdong, China. It is bounded by Huangpu Avenue on the north, the Pearl River (China), Pearl River on the south, Guangzhou Avenue on the west and the South China Expressway on the east. Covering an area of 6.44 square kilometre, km2, it is divided by Xiancun Road () into two parts. The larger eastern section contains mainly high-end residential apartments and in the centre lies the Zhujiang park. Guangzhou Metro
The Guangzhou Metro () ( and ) is the rapid transit system of the city of Guangzhou in Guangdong Province of China. It is operated by the state-owned Guangzhou Metro Corporation and was the fourth metro system to be built in mainland China, after those of Beijing, Tianjin, and Shanghai. The earliest efforts to build an underground rapid transit system in Guangzhou date back to 1960. In the two decades that followed, the project was brought into the agenda five times but ended up abandoned each time due to financial and technical difficulties. Preparation of what would lead to today's Guangzhou Metro did not start until the 1980s, and it was not until 1993 that construction of the first line, Line 1, officially began.
