Germasogeia ( el, Γερμασόγεια) is an eastern suburb of Limassol and a municipality in the Limassol District of Cyprus. , Germasogeia had a population of 13,421. Its current mayor is Kyriakos Xidias. He won the local elections on 18 December 2016 as an independent candidate. During the elections, Xidias prevailed with 26.73% of the vote against 23.01% of two-term incumbent Andreas Gavrielides. The small town was fortified in the medieval period by the Knights Templar. Germasogeia dam was built there in 1968. Limassol District () or Lemesos ( el, Λεμεσός) is one of the six districts of Cyprus. , it had a population of 239,842, 77% of which was urban. Its main city is Limassol. Part of the British Overseas Territory of Akrotiri and Dhekelia forms an enclave on the Akrotiri Peninsula, under the sovereignty of the United Kingdom. A sister city or a twin town relationship is a form of legal or social agreement between two geographically and politically distinct localities for the purpose of promoting cultural and commercial ties. While there are early examples of international links between municipalities akin to what are known as sister cities or twin towns today dating back to the 9th century, the modern concept was first established and adopted worldwide during World War II. Stari Grad ( sr-Cyrl, Стари Град, ) is a municipality of the city of Belgrade. It encompasses some of the oldest sections of urban Belgrade, thus the name (‘’stari grad’’, Serbian for “old city”).
