Yayvantepe (, , ) is a village in the Midyat District of Mardin Province in Turkey. The village is populated by Arabs and Kurds. It had a population of 977 in 2022 and is located southwest of the Mor Gabriel Monastery. Demographics The two groups living in the village are Arabs and Kurds of which the Arabs are Seyids. Midyat District is a district of the Mardin Province of Turkey. The seat of the district is the town of Midyat and the population was 118,625 in 2021. Mardin Province
Mardin Province ( tr, Mardin ili; ku, Parêzgeha Mêrdînê; ar, محافظة ماردين) is a province of Turkey with a population of 809,719 in 2017, slightly down from the population of 835,173 in 2000. Mor Gabriel Monastery
Dayro d-Mor Gabriel ( syc, ܕܝܪܐ ܕܡܪܝ ܓܒܪܐܝܠ; the ''Monastery of Saint Gabriel''), also known as Deyrulumur, is the oldest surviving Syriac Orthodox monastery in the world. It is located on the Tur Abdin plateau near Midyat in the Mardin Province in southeastern Turkey. It has been involved in a dispute with the Turkish government that threatened its existence. Syriac Orthodox culture was centered in two monasteries near Mardin (west of Tur Abdin), Mor Gabriel Monastery and Deyrulzafaran.
