Yardymli
Yardimli District ( az, Yardımlı rayonu) is one of the 66 districts of Azerbaijan. It is located in the south-east of the country and belongs to the Lankaran-Astara Economic Region. The district borders the districts of Jalilabad, Masally, Lerik, and the Ardabil Province of Iran. Its capital and largest city is Yardimli. As of 2020, the district had a population of 68,000. History The district was called the village Vargaduz, part of Lankaran Uyezd from 1920 to 1930. Since 1930, it has been renamed the Vargaduz district. It has been named Yardimli region since 1938 and the center of the district was Yardimli. Yardımlı
Yardimli ( az, Yardımlı) is a city in and the capital of the Yardimli District of Azerbaijan. It is in the Talysh Mountains, a northwestern subrange of the Alborz (''Elburz'') mountain range, about 286 km to the south from Baku and 76 km to the south-west from Masallı. History During the Soviet times, it had a status of a township. At those times, a carpet-weaving factory, which doesn't work at present, functioned in Yardimli. There are a museum, mosque and military memorial in the city. Etymology They explain the toponym in different ways. According to a possibility, it was created from the word "Yardam". The people are explained as part of the Ulus. They say the root of the name "Ardabil" is "Yard." According to the second assumption, "Ertim" was caused. Vilesh
The Vileshchay ( az, Viləşçay, tly, Viləşərü, script=Latn) is a river of Azerbaijan. It is one of the larger rivers of the country, flowing into the Caspian Sea in southeastern Azerbaijan. Overview Vilesh is a part of Gizil-Agach State Reserve, an ecological haven for migrating birds, created in 1929. The river is long with the basin size of . It starts at Quludaş peak of Talysh Mountains. In the middle it additionally branches off to Şərətük river on its right (29 km long), Mətəli river on the left (21 km long). The river is considered to be one of the wildest bodies of water in the country flooding the nearby villages during the rain season. It goes through Yardymli Rayon and Masally Rayon in the Kur-Araz Lowland area. The Tat people (also: ''Tat'', ''Parsi'', ''Daghli'', ''Lohijon'') are an Iranian people presently living within Azerbaijan and Russia (mainly Southern Dagestan). The Avars, also known as ''Maharuls'' ( Avar: , , "mountaineers") are a Northeast Caucasian ethnic group. Lezgins or Leks ( lez, Лезгияр, Лекьер. lezgijar) are a Northeast Caucasian ethnic group native predominantly to southern Dagestan, a republic of Russia, and northeastern Azerbaijan.
