Xiamen Zhangzhou Bridge
The Xiamen Zhangzhou Bridge is a bridge across the Jiulong River estuary as the river enters Xiamen Bay. The bridge's main cable-stayed bridge span is long, the ninth longest in the world. The cable stayed section is supported by two high towers. Construction of the bridge began in August 2009. The bridge was opened in May, 2013. The bridge carries traffic between the Haicang District in Xiamen to the north of the bay and Longhai, Zhangzhou to the south. It has six lanes of traffic and a speed limit of . The bridge has reduced the travel time across the bay from 2 hours down to 30 minutes. Xiamen Bay, formerly known as Amoy Bay, is a partially enclosed bay off the coast of Xiamen in China's Fujian Province. It is bound by the Kinmen Islands and the Taiwan Strait. Jiulong River
The Jiulong River, formerly known as the Longjiang or Zhangjiang, is the largest rivers of China, river in southern Fujian and the second largest in the province. It has a length of and a basin of . Like all Fujianese rivers Ting River, but one, it flows into the Taiwan Strait. Course The Beixi rises in the prefecture-level city, prefecture of Longyan; it flows east into the prefecture of Zhangzhou, where it merges with the Xixi to form the Jiulong. Xiamen ( , ; ), also known as Amoy (, from Hokkien pronunciation ), is a sub-provincial city in southeastern Fujian, People's Republic of China, beside the Taiwan Strait. Zhangzhou (), alternately romanized as Changchow, is a prefecture-level city in Fujian Province, China.
