Wuppertal Zoologischer Garten Station
Wuppertal Zoologischer Garten station (locally also called Zoo station) is a station on the Düsseldorf–Elberfeld railway in the city of Wuppertal in the German state of North Rhine-Westphalia. The station building was heritage-listed on 31 August 1987. It is classified by Deutsche Bahn as a category 4 station. The station building Wuppertal Zoo was opened in western Wuppertal in 1881, in the Zooviertel ("zoo quarter"). The station was constructed after the take-over of the Düsseldorf–Elberfeld line by the Prussian state railways, on 1 January 1882, following the nationalisation of the Bergisch-Märkische Railway Company. The dating of the start of construction is difficult, it was dedicated in 1898, but the building is already visible in a photograph from 1892 and some sources say construction began in 1886. Wuppertal (; "''Wupper Dale''") is, with a population of approximately 355,000, the seventh-largest city in North Rhine-Westphalia as well as the 17th-largest city of Germany. Line S 8 is an S-Bahn line operated by DB Regio on the Rhine-Ruhr network. It runs from Hagen Hauptbahnhof in the west to Mönchengladbach Hauptbahnhof in the east via Wuppertal Hauptbahnhof, Düsseldorf Hauptbahnhof and Neuss Hauptbahnhof. The Wuppertaler Schwebebahn ("Wuppertal Suspension Railway") is a suspension railway in Wuppertal, Germany. Its original name was ("Eugen Langen Monorail Overhead Conveyor System"). It is the oldest electric elevated railway with hanging cars in the world and is a unique system in Germany. The S28 ''Regiobahn'' is a S-Bahn line in the Rhine-Ruhr S-Bahn network. It is operated by '' Transdev Rheinland GmbH'' as a subcontractor of '' Regiobahn Fahrbetriebsgesellschaft mbH'' (''Regiobahn'' for short), who is the PSO operator on behalf of Verkehrsverbund Rhein-Ruhr (VRR). The line begins in Wuppertal Hauptbahnhof, then uses the branch line via Mettmann Stadtwald; then it runs through Düsseldorf Hauptbahnhof branching off to Kaarst after passing through Neuss Hauptbahnhof. Recklinghausen Hauptbahnhof
Recklinghausen Hauptbahnhof is a railway station for the city of Recklinghausen in Germany. History The original station opened in 1870 by the Cologne-Minden Railway Company as part of the construction of the Hamburg-Venlo railway. During the Second World War, on April 1, 1945, a heavy bombing raid mostly destroyed the station and tracks. It is commemorated by the bunker built next to the station, in which the Kunsthalle Recklinghausen was established in 1950. An outstanding feature of the architecture of the station building with its glass front is now the clock tower. The new bus station was built in 1998.
