Marion Clignet
Marion Clignet (born 21 February 1964) is a French former track cyclist. Clignet was diagnosed with epilepsy at the age of 22 and was shunned by the United States Cycling Federation, and she subsequently raced for France since 1991. She rode at three Olympic Games for France. 1993 UCI Track Cycling World Championships
The 1993 UCI Track Cycling World Championships were held at Vikingskipet in Hamar, Norway, from 17 to 29 August 1993. Eleven events were held, eight for men and three for women, with five world records being set. Venue The Championships were hosted in Vikingskipet, an indoor speed skating rink which opened in 1992 for the 1994 Winter Olympics. Originally the plan had been to construct a velodrome in Oslo, but instead it was decided to erect a temporary track within the Hamar venue. The temporary structure cost NOK 15 million, and was dismantled after the world championships. Palais Des Sports (Grenoble)
Palais des Sports, known also as the Palais des sports Pierre Mendes or "Le Stade Olympique de Glace" is an indoor ice hockey arena, located in Paul Mistral Park in Grenoble, France. The vaulted roof structure was built from November 1966 to April 1967, therefore having tough weather problems to add to construction difficulties. The stadium was conceived for the Olympiques Winter Games held in Grenoble in 1968 and has a capacity of up to 12,000 spectators. Erika Salumäe (born 11 June 1962) is an Estonian track bicycle racer who won the first Olympic gold medal for Estonia after the country regained independence in 1991. Salumäe was born in Pärnu, Estonia. She trained at VSS Kalev in Tallinn. At the 1983 Summer Universiade she won two gold medals, in the women's sprint and women's 500 m time trial and the silver medal in the women's points race. Rebecca Twigg
Rebecca Twigg (born March 26, 1963) is an American former racing cyclist. Cycling career An academic prodigy, she enrolled at the University of Washington in Seattle at the age of 14 and rode for the school's team. US national team coach Eddie Borysewicz saw her and invited her to join his team when she was 17. She earned degrees in biology and computer science from UW. Twigg won six world track cycling championships in the individual pursuit. She also won 16 US championships (the first – the individual time trial – when she was 18) and two Olympic medals, the silver medal in the 1984 road race in Los Angeles, and a bronze medal in the pursuit in Barcelona in 1992. She won the first three editions of the Women's Challenge on the road. Twigg was a three-time Olympian (1984, 1992, and 1996).
