Palais Des Sports (Grenoble)
Palais des Sports, known also as the Palais des sports Pierre Mendes or "Le Stade Olympique de Glace" is an indoor ice hockey arena, located in Paul Mistral Park in Grenoble, France. The vaulted roof structure was built from November 1966 to April 1967, therefore having tough weather problems to add to construction difficulties. The stadium was conceived for the Olympiques Winter Games held in Grenoble in 1968 and has a capacity of up to 12,000 spectators. Events The figure skating events and some ice hockey games at the 1968 Winter Olympics were held at this arena called for the event ''Stade de glace''. The arena hosted the 1972 (3rd) European Athletics Indoor Championships over 11 and 12 March, the arena was featured on the medals awarded (pictured). Paul Mistral Park
Paul Mistral Park (Parc Paul Mistral in French) is an urban park located in Grenoble. It is 67 acres (27 ha) and it holds important sporting facilities and the city hall. Placed inside an old military engineering ground, it was created thanks to the International Exhibition of Hydropower and Tourism which took place in 1925. History In 1836, after the general Haxo achieved to build the city's ramparts, the current area of the park is used as a military engineering place outside the town for shooting training. So, this area is reserved for the military needs only and none building is allowed. At this location was also the door, one of the five city's gates, the door of the Alpes ("Porte des Alpes" in French) which allowed people to go to Eybens or Vizille. Palasport di San Siro was an indoor arena in Milan, Italy. It was primarily used for basketball and volleyball until the PalaSharp opened in 1985. The arena held 18,000 spectators and opened on 31 January 1976. On January 17, 1985, a large snowfall collapsed the roof and the arena was closed. Deutschlandhalle was an arena located in the Westend neighbourhood of Berlin, Germany. It was inaugurated on 29 November 1935 by Adolf Hitler. The building was granted landmark status in 1995, but was demolished on 3 December 2011. History Built primarily for the 1936 Summer Olympics, the Deutschlandhalle could hold 8,764 people.
