Worthy De Jong
Worthy Donovan Rafael de Jong (born 14 March 1988) is a Dutch 3x3 basketball player and former professional 5x5 player. Standing at 6 ft 4.3 in (1.94 m), De Jong plays the shooting guard or the small forward position. He played 13 seasons as a professional player in the Netherlands, of which 11 were with ZZ Leiden. He is Leiden's all-time leader in points, rebounds and assists, and is nicknamed "Mister ZZ Leiden". With Leiden, he won three Dutch championships and two Dutch Cups. De Jong is widely regarded as one of the best Dutch basketball players of his generation and was considered the best player in the country in his prime. ZZ Leiden Basketball, also known as Zorg en Zekerheid Leiden, is a basketball club based in Leiden, Netherlands. The club plays in the BNXT League, the domestic first tier league. 2020–21 Dutch Basketball League
The 2020–21 Dutch Basketball League (DBL) was the 61st season of the Dutch Basketball League, the highest professional basketball league in the Netherlands. The season started on 3 October 2020 and ended on 27 May 2021. It was the first season after the 2019–20 season was ended prematurely due to the COVID-19 pandemic. The league expanded to 12 teams with the addition of Yoast United, Almere Sailors and The Hague Royals. This marked the highest number of teams since the 2007–08 season. ZZ Leiden won its fourth national title after defeating Heroes Den Bosch in the Finals. On 15 October 2020, the season was suspended for at least four weeks due to government regulations regarding the pandemic. NBB Cup
The Basketball Cup, formerly the NBB Cup ( nl, NBB-Beker), is an annual cup competition for Dutch basketball teams organised by the Basketball Nederland. Every team in the Netherlands can participate by signing up for the preliminary rounds. Professional basketball teams from the Dutch Basketball League (DBL) enter the tournament in the fourth round. From 1977 until 1990 professional teams were not allowed to participate in the competition. The tournament is organized in a knock-out format, with quarter- and semi-finals being two-legged series while the final is played in a single game. Heroes Den Bosch and Donar are the two clubs with the most cup titles, as both have a total of 7 titles.
