World Telugu Conference
The World Telugu Conference (WTC) is a conference for the furtherance of the Telugu language. Literary luminaries attend and share their views on spreading and preserving the language and advocating a Telugu language policy. History The first WTC was held in Hyderabad in 1975. The then Minister of Education, Mandali Venkata Krishna Rao, was instrumental in starting it. The singer M. S. Ramarao made his debut at the conference. It was also attended by Sankarambadi Sundarachari, who penned the anthem " Maa Telugu Thalliki", and the actor-singer Tanguturi Suryakumari. The second WTC was in April 1981 in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia, and the third in December 1990 in Mauritius. The Lal Bahadur Shastri Stadium, formerly known as Fateh Maidan, is a multi-purpose sports stadium in Hyderabad, Telangana. The stadium is primarily used for cricket and association football. The stadium was renamed in 1967 in memory of Lal Bahadur Shastri, India's former Prime Minister. As of 19 August 2017, it has hosted 3 Tests and 14 ODIs. Maa Telugu Talliki (, IAST: ''Mā Telugu Talliki''; ) is the official song of the Indian state of Andhra Pradesh. The Telugu Thalli is portrayed as a symbol of Telugu people. Many schools and government events start with this song. Background It was written by Sankarambadi Sundaraachari and sung by Suryakumari for the Telugu film ''Deena Bandhu'' (1942) which starred V.
