The 97th Assembly District of Wisconsin is one of 99 districts in the Wisconsin State Assembly. Located in southeastern Wisconsin, the district currently encompasses parts of central and western Waukesha County, Wisconsin, Waukesha County, including much of the city of Waukesha, Wisconsin, Waukesha and the western half of the village of Waukesha (village), Wisconsin, Waukesha, and the villages of Dousman, Wisconsin, Dousman and North Prairie, Wisconsin, North Prairie. The seat is held by Republican Party (United States), Republican Scott Allen (politician), Scott Allen since January 2015. Located in southeastern Wisconsin, the district comprises part of northwest Waukesha County and a tiny segment of northeast Jefferson County. Peggy Krusick
Margaret Ann "Peggy" Krusick (born October 26, 1956) is a retired American Democratic politician. She was a member of the Wisconsin State Assembly for nearly thirty years (1983–2013), representing central Milwaukee County. She was defeated in a primary challenge after redistricting, and lost a subsequent write-in campaign. Background Peggy Krusick is a graduate of Saint Gregory the Great Parish School and Hamilton High School, both in Milwaukee. She received her B.A. in Political Science, with honors, from the University of Wisconsin–Milwaukee. She and her husband have two children. Verona, Wisconsin
Verona is a city in Dane County, Wisconsin, in the United States and is a suburb of Madison. The population was 14,030 at the 2020 census. The city is located ten miles southwest of downtown Madison within the Town of Verona. It is part of the Madison Metropolitan Statistical Area. History The town was named for Verona, New York. It was incorporated as a village in 1921 and as a city in 1978. Verona used to be home to the Dane County Insane Asylum which opened in 1882, closed in 1973, and was demolished in 2006. It was previously a poor farm for people who needed care due to old age, blindness, disease, deformity, loss of limbs and insanity. Joe Wineke
Joseph S. Wineke (born January 5, 1957) is an American politician. He was chairman of the Democratic Party of Wisconsin from 2005 through 2009. During his term as chair, he saw the Democrats gain full control of Wisconsin's executive and legislative branches for the first time since 1986. Before becoming party chair, he served ten years in the Wisconsin State Assembly and six years in the Wisconsin State Senate, representing suburban areas of Dane, Green, and Rock counties. Early life and career Wineke graduated from Verona Area High School in 1975. He graduated with a B.A. in political science from the University of Wisconsin-Madison in 1980. He served on the Verona City Council from 1980 to 1983. Lolita Schneiders
Lolita Schneiders (March 3, 1931 – November 12, 2022) was an American politician, teacher, and businesswoman who served as a member of the Wisconsin State Assembly. Early life and education Born in Chicago, Illinois, Schneiders went to Lourdes High School and Mundelein College in Chicago. She then received her bachelor's degree in education from University of Wisconsin–Stevens Point. Career Schneiders worked as a saleswomen, teacher, and insurance agent in Menomonee Falls, Wisconsin. She served in the Wisconsin State Assembly from 1981 until 1997 as a Republican. After leaving the Assembly, Schneiders served on the University of Wisconsin–Madison Board of Regents. Personal life Schneiders and her husband had three children.
