The 31st Assembly District of Wisconsin is one of 99 districts in the Wisconsin State Assembly. Located in southern Wisconsin, the district comprises southeast Rock County and most of the northern half of Walworth County. The 11th Senate District of Wisconsin is one of 33 districts in the Wisconsin State Senate. Located in southern Wisconsin, the district comprises most of Walworth County, the eastern half of Rock County, the southern half of Jefferson County, and part of western Kenosha County. Current elected officials Stephen Nass is the senator representing the 11th district. He was first elected in the 2014 general election, and is now serving in his second term. Waukesha County () is a county in the U.S. state of Wisconsin. As of the 2020 United States Census, the population was 406,978, making it the third-most populous county in Wisconsin. Its county seat and largest city is Waukesha. Waukesha County is included in the Milwaukee– Waukesha–West Allis, WI Metropolitan Statistical Area. History Known as forested and prairie land, the region was first home to Indigenous tribes like Menomonie, Ojibwe (Chippewa), Potawatomi, and Ho-Chunk (Winnebago), who practiced agriculture and trade. In 1836, Native American tribes formally lost title to the land when treaties were disregarded and were forcibly removed by the Federal Army. Prior to the 1830s, the area was unoccupied by settlers due to its inland location and the fact that the Fox River was not a water highway. Waukesha ( ) is the county seat of Waukesha County, Wisconsin, United States. It is part of the Milwaukee metropolitan area. Its population was 71,158 at the 2020 census. The city is adjacent to the Village of Waukesha. History The area that Waukesha now encompasses was first settled by European-Americans in 1834, with Morris D. Cutler as its first settler. When the first settlers arrived, there was nothing but dense virgin forest and wild prairie. The settlers laid out farms, constructed roads, erected government buildings and established post routes. Joanne Huelsman
Joanne B. Huelsman (born March 21, 1938) is a former member of the Wisconsin State Assembly and the Wisconsin State Senate. Born in Harvey, Illinois, Huelsman received her bachelor's degree from University of Wisconsin–Madison and her law degree from Marquette University Law School. Huelsman practiced law, was in the real estate business, and owned a small business. She served on the Waukesha, Wisconsin Board of Education and the Waukesha County Board of Supervisors. Lake Mills, Wisconsin
Lake Mills is a city in Jefferson County, Wisconsin, United States. The population was 6,211 at the 2020 census. The city is located partially within the Town of Lake Mills. History Lake Mills occupies the east shore of Rock Lake. The area was first settled by Captain Joseph Keyes. He called it "Lake Mills", after building a saw mill and grist mill using power from nearby Rock Lake. Lake Mills was chartered in 1836, and the first building was built in 1837. The village of Lake Mills incorporated in 1852 out of the surrounding town of Lake Mills. In 1866 the village changed its name to "Tyranena", but changed it back again to "Lake Mills" the next year. Mordecai Lee is a former member of the Wisconsin State Assembly and Wisconsin State Senate. Biography Lee was born on August 27, 1948 in Milwaukee, Wisconsin. He is a graduate of the University of Wisconsin-Madison and Syracuse University. Currently, he is a member of the faculty of the University of Wisconsin–Milwaukee. He has also been a member of the faculty of the University of Wisconsin-Parkside. In 1990, he was named Executive Director of the Milwaukee Jewish Council for Community Relations.
