Wilma Aitken
Wilma Dickson Aitken (later Leburn, born 24 January 1959) is a Scottish amateur golfer. She won the 1977 Girls Amateur Championship and was a three-time winner of the Helen Holm Scottish Women's Open Championship. She was runner-up in the 1981 British Ladies Amateur and played in the 1982 Curtis Cup. Golf career In July 1975, Aitken won the Scottish Girls Championship beating Suzanne Cadden by one hole in the final. She played for Scotland in the Girls Home Internationals later in the year and again in 1976, when Scotland won the title. In July 1977, she won the Scottish Girls title for the second time, beating Gillian Wilson narrowly in the final. The following month she played again in the Home Internationals and the week after won the Girls Amateur Championship, beating Sue Bamford, 2 and 1, in the final. Girls Amateur Championship
The Girls Amateur Championship is a golf tournament held annually in the United Kingdom. Girls need to be under 18 on 1 January in the year of the championship. Until World War II the championship was organised by a series of magazines and always held at Stoke Poges Golf Club near Slough. it was first held in 1919, although an event was planned in 1914 but was cancelled because of the start of World War I. After World War II it restarted in 1949 when the Ladies Golf Union took over the event. It is now run by The R&A, following the merger with the Ladies Golf Union in 2017.. Format Currently the championship involves two rounds of stroke-play after which the 64 lowest scores compete in six rounds of match-play. Ties for 64th place are decided by countback. All match-play rounds are over 18 holes, except the final which is played over 36 holes, with extra holes played, if necessary, to decide the winner. The Scottish Women’s Amateur Championship is the women's national amateur match play golf championship of Scotland. It was first played in 1903 and is currently organised by Scottish Golf. The Scottish Women's Amateur Championship is contested through two phases. It begins with a 36 hole stroke play competition, with the leading competitors progressing to the knock-out match play competition. History The first championship was held in 1903. It was organised by the St Rule Club and played on the Old Course at St Andrews. The 1983 European Ladies' Team Championship took place 22–26 June at the Royal Waterloo Golf Club in Lasne, Belgium. It was the 13th women's golf amateur European Ladies' Team Championship. Venue The hosting club was founded in 1923 by Rodolphe Seeldrayers. European Ladies' Team Championship
The European Ladies' Team Championship is a European amateur team golf championship for women organised by the European Golf Association. The inaugural event was held in 1959. It was played in odd-numbered years from 1959 to 2007 and has been played annually since 2008 (with the exception of 2012). Format Currently, the championship is contested by up to 20 teams, each of 6 players. The format consists of two rounds of strokeplay, out of which the five lowest scores from each team's six players will count each day. The total addition of the five lowest scores will constitute the team's score and determine the teams qualified for the last three rounds of matchplay. Jody Rosenthal
Jody Anschutz (born October 18, 1962) is an American professional golfer. She competed as Jody Rosenthal prior to marrying Fred Anschutz on October 14, 1989. Career Rosenthal was born in Minneapolis, Minnesota. She attended the University of Tulsa. As an amateur she won the 1984 British Ladies Amateur and played for the United States in the 1984 Curtis Cup. Her debut season on the LPGA Tour was 1986 and she won Rookie of the Year honors. In her second season she won two tournaments including the du Maurier Classic, which was then one of the LPGA's major championships, and finished in the top ten in the other three majors on her way to fifth in the money list. From that time on however her career followed a downwards trajectory. She did not win again and did not make the top one hundred on the money list after 1992. Angela Uzielli
Angela Mary Uzielli ( Carrick, 1 February 1940 – 4 November 1999) was an English amateur golfer. She won the 1977 British Ladies Amateur, the 1990 English Women's Amateur Championship and won the Women's Senior Amateur six times in the 1990s. She played in the 1978 Curtis Cup. Golf career In 1968, Uzielli reached the final of the Wills Women's National Match Play, losing to New Zealander Heather Booth in the final. Uzielli won the 1977 British Ladies Amateur at Hillside Golf Club, beating Vanessa Marvin 6&5 in the final. Avia Foursomes
The Avia Foursomes was a women's foursomes golf tournament contested annually from 1958 to 1989. It was held at Sunningdale Golf Club in its first year but was then played at the Berkshire Golf Club near Ascot, Berkshire. The event consisted of 72 holes of stroke play. From 1958 to 1964 it was called the Kayser Bondor Foursomes and in 1965 Casa Pupo Foursomes before being sponsored by Avia watches from 1966. Avia withdrew their sponsorship after the 1989 event. In 1978 the event was opened up to professionals, although they had to play with an amateur. The 1958 event resulted in a tie, with two pairs equal on 317. An event was planned for 1964 but was abandoned because of snow. The 1971 event was reduced to 36 holes after rain caused the final day to be lost.
