Royal Troon Golf Club
Royal Troon Golf Club is a Links (golf), links golf course in Scotland, located in Troon, South Ayrshire, southwest of Glasgow. Founding and early years The club, which now has a total of 45 holes, was founded in 1878, initially with five holes. It lies adjacent to the Firth of Clyde. George Strath was appointed in 1881 as the club's first golf professional, and together with 1882 Open champion Willie Fernie (golfer), Willie Fernie, designed the original course, expanding it to 18 holes by 1888.'' Charlie Hunter (golfer)
Charles Crawford Hunter (5 June 1836 – 24 January 1921) was a Scottish professional golfer and greenskeeper. He was born at Prestwick, Scotland, and died there. He was the last survivor of those who took part in the first Open Championship in 1860. Over the course of his career, Hunter had seven top-10 finishes in the Open Championship. Early life and family Hunter was born on 5 June 1836 in Prestwick, Scotland. Hunter's son, John, finished in eighth place in the 1898 Open Championship and also won the 1907 Scottish PGA Championship. Golf career Hunter had seven top-10 finishes in the Open Championship. Mark Calcavecchia
Mark John Calcavecchia (born June 12, 1960) is an American professional golfer and a former PGA Tour member. During his professional career, he won 13 PGA Tour events, including the 1989 Open Championship. He plays on the Champions Tour as well as a limited PGA Tour schedule that includes The Open Championship. Early years Calcavecchia was born in Laurel, Nebraska. While he was a teenager, his family moved from Nebraska to West Palm Beach, Florida in 1973. Justin Charles Garrett Leonard (born June 15, 1972) is an American professional golfer. He has twelve career wins on the PGA Tour, including one major, the 1997 Open Championship. Early years Born and raised in Dallas, Texas, Leonard graduated from Lake Highlands High School in 1990. He attended the University of Texas in Austin and was the individual NCAA champion in 1994. Leonard won the 1992 U.S. Amateur, was a two-time All-American (1993, 1994), and won the Haskins Award in 1994 as the most outstanding collegiate golfer. The 2016 Open Championship was a men's major golf championship and the 145th Open Championship, played from 14–17 July at Royal Troon Golf Club in Ayrshire, Scotland. The Dictionary of Scottish Architects is a publicly available online database that provides biographical information about all architects known to have worked in Scotland between 1660 and 1980, and lists their works.
