Wildlife Conservation Network
The Wildlife Conservation Network (WCN) is a United States-based 501(c)(3) non-profit organization that protects endangered wildlife by supporting conservationists in the field who promote coexistence between wildlife and people. WCN does this by providing its partners with capital, strategic capacity-building services, training, and operational support. WCN has been given a top rating amongst wildlife conservation charities, with a four star rating on Charity Navigator. Founded in 2002, Wildlife Conservation Network was built on a venture capital fundraising model to identify entrepreneurial conservationists and projects and give them the support they need to effectively run their programs. Grévy's Zebra Trust
The Grévy's Zebra Trust GZT was founded in 2007 for the protection of the Grévy's Zebras (''Equus grevyi'') and their habitat. The Conservancy works to engage and incorporate local communities in protecting Grévy's Zebra in Ethiopia and Kenya. GZT uses scouts to collect scientific data, provide security, surveillance, and run education programs. Currently the Grévy's Zebras global population is today about 2,500 down from an estimated 15,000 in the 1970s. Ewaso Lions
The Ewaso Lions Project was founded in 2007 for the protection of lions (''Panthera leo'') and their habitat in Northern Kenya. The project works to study and incorporate local communities in helping to protect the lions in the Samburu National Reserve, Buffalo Springs National Reserve and Shaba National Reserve of the Ewaso Nyiro ecosystem in Northern Kenya. The lion is a vulnerable species, having seen a major population decline of 30–50% over the past two decades. Currently there are less than 2,000 lions in Kenya. The Ewaso Lions Project research camp sits within the Westgate Community Conservancy, west of Samburu National Reserve. Ethiopian Wolf
The Ethiopian wolf (''Canis simensis''), also called the Simien jackal and Simien fox, is a canine native to the Ethiopian Highlands. In southeastern Ethiopia it is also known as the horse jackal. It is similar to the coyote in size and build, and is distinguished by its long and narrow skull, and its red and white fur. Conservation Through Public Health (CTPH) is a non-profit organization based in Uganda and the US that conducts programs to protect gorillas and other wildlife from human and livestock disease risk; to reduce human and livestock diseases in the vicinity of wildlife; to increase the local use of family planning; and to use information/communication technology both to help local-level development and to educate people about the environment. It was founded by Gladys Kalema-Zikusoka, Lawrence Zikusoka, and Stephen Rubanga in 2002.
