Wibautstraat Metro Station
Wibautstraat is an underground metro station in the city centre of Amsterdam, Netherlands. Served by metro lines 51, 53 and 54 of the Amsterdam Metro, the station was constructed with the Tunnel construction#Cut-and-cover, cut-and-cover method. It was opened on 16 October 1977. The station consists of two station halls with two entrances each. The island platform is between the two halls. The station was renovated in 2010 and 2018. The five pieces of artwork inside the station created by a cartoonist refer to three major Dutch newspapers—''de Volkskrant'', ''Het Parool'' and ''Trouw''—that had their offices at Wibautstraat and are considered to have cultural and historical value after the newspapers left the street to different locations. Amstelveen
Amstelveen () is a municipality in the province of North Holland, Netherlands with a population of 92.353 as of 2022. It is a suburban part of the Amsterdam metropolitan area. Eberhard Van Der Laan
Eberhard Edzard van der Laan (; 28 June 1955 – 5 October 2017) was a Dutch politician who served as Minister for Housing, Communities and Integration from 2008 to 2010 and Mayor of Amsterdam from 2010 until his death in 2017. Matrix (printing)
In the manufacture of metal type used in letterpress printing, a matrix (from the Latin meaning ''womb'' or ''a female breeding animal'') is the mould used to cast a letter, known as a sort. Matrices for printing types were made of copper. However, in printmaking the matrix is whatever is used, with ink, to hold the image that makes up the print, whether a plate in etching and engraving or a woodblock in woodcut. Description In letterpress or "cold metal" typesetting, used from the beginning of printing to the late nineteenth century, the matrix of one letter is inserted into the bottom of an adjustable-width hand mould, the mould is locked and molten type metal is poured into a straight-sided vertical cavity above the matrix.
