West Auckland AFC
West Auckland Kiwi True Blues FC is an amateur association football club based in Auckland, New Zealand. Their home ground is Brains Park located in the suburb of Kelston in Auckland, they currently compete in the NRFL Northern Conference. West Auckland AFC and Kiwi True Blues FC, an Auckland Sunday Football Association team, merged their top teams in 2019, allowing Kiwi True Blues to play in the NRF Conference and together as one team in the Chatham Cup. Kelston, New Zealand
Kelston is a residential suburb of West Auckland, New Zealand. Originally a ceramics manufacturing centre, the area is now mostly residential, including a number of schools. Kelston is located in, and its name has been given to, the Kelston parliamentary electorate. History The Western shores of the Whau River in Kelston was home to an Archibald Brothers clay and pottery yard in the late 19th century. Demographics Kelston covers and had an estimated population of as of with a population density of people per km2. New Zealand National Soccer League
The New Zealand National League is the name given to the current New Zealand top football competition. Originally set up as the New Zealand National Soccer League there has been many versions of the competition as well as many different names. The most common format saw club teams play each other, at least two times, on a home and away basis. At the completion of those games, the best-performing team was declared as the New Zealand champion. The latest version has the clubs play in their regional leagues with the top teams qualifying for the Championship phase to then play each other for the champion. The 1997 National Summer Soccer League was the second season of a short-lived nationwide association football club competition in New Zealand. Despite being known as the 1997 league, competition started in November 1996, with the later rounds and final playoffs held in 1997. The competition was won by Waitakere City. Structure The league was an invitation-only competition, with no promotion or relegation taking place. Matches took place between November 1996 and April 1997, with a three-week break from late December to mid-January. The competition was divided into two stages. The 1995 Superclub competition was the third and final season of a nationwide association football club competition in New Zealand. It was won by Waitakere City. Structure The competition was divided into three stages. In the first phase three regional round-robin leagues were played, with each team playing every other team home and away. The top teams from this stage progressed to a national league; the bottom teams were relegated to lower regional leagues. The Northern and Southern Leagues each contained ten teams, the Central League contained eleven. 1992 New Zealand National Soccer League
The 1992 New Zealand National Soccer League was the 23rd season of a nationwide round-robin club competition in New Zealand football. It was the final season of the first incarnation of the league — it was replaced from the 1993 season by the Superclub competition. Promotion and relegation Gisborne City were relegated at the end of the 1991 season, to be replaced by the winner of a play-off series between the winners of the northern, central, and southern leagues ( Papatoetoe, Wellington Olympic, and Dunedin City respectively). Dunedin City opted not to take part, citing travel costs as a reason. Papatoetoe beat Wellington Olympic to be promoted to the league for 1992. 1990 New Zealand National Soccer League
The 1990 New Zealand National Soccer League was the 21st season of a nationwide round-robin club competition in New Zealand football. Waitakere City won the league for the first time, by two points over Auckland neighbours Mount Wellington. Promotion and relegation Papatoetoe were relegated at the end of the 1989 season. Their place was taken by New Plymouth Old Boys, the winners of the Central League. the winners of the Northern and Southern Leagues were Mount Roskill and Burndale United respectively. Waitakere City FC
Waitakere City F.C. was a New Zealand football club. They merged with Norwest United in 2021 to form West Coast Rangers. They last competed in the Lotto Sport Italia NRFL Premier League. History It was formed in 1989 with the purpose of representing West Auckland in the National Soccer League. At first the club was located in Western Springs, but following a merger with Massey AFC in 1991, it moved to its current location, at Fred Taylor Park in Whenuapai, West Auckland. Waitakere City F.C. quickly established itself as one of New Zealand's top clubs, winning the national championship on five occasions (1990, 1992, 1995, 1996 and 1997) and finishing as the runner-up once (1993). NRF Conference
The NRF League One is a New Zealand amateur football league. The league is run by Northern Region Football, an amalgamation of the Auckland Football Federation and Northern Football Federation, and includes football clubs located in Northland and Auckland. It comprises half of the fifth tier of football in the northern North Island, alongside the WaiBOP Premiership. Up until 2022, the competition was known as NRF Championship. The fixtures are played generally from April to September. The league winners are promoted to the NRFL Northern Confernce. Until 2022 the second-place team entered a two-game playoff series with the champions of the WaiBOP Premiership (now WaiBOP League One), with the winner being promoted. Teams can be relegated from this division, however only one team representing each club can progress into this division and beyond.
