1992 New Zealand National Soccer League
The 1992 New Zealand National Soccer League was the 23rd season of a nationwide round-robin club competition in New Zealand football. It was the final season of the first incarnation of the league — it was replaced from the 1993 season by the Superclub competition. Promotion and relegation Gisborne City were relegated at the end of the 1991 season, to be replaced by the winner of a play-off series between the winners of the northern, central, and southern leagues ( Papatoetoe, Wellington Olympic, and Dunedin City respectively). Dunedin City opted not to take part, citing travel costs as a reason. Papatoetoe beat Wellington Olympic to be promoted to the league for 1992. As the 1992 season was the league's last in this format, there was no relegation at the end of the competition. University-Mount Wellington
University-Mount Wellington is an association football club in Auckland, New Zealand. It was formed from the amalgamation of University AFC and Mount Wellington AFC. The team play at Bill McKinlay Park, Panmure, Auckland. Club history During much of the 1970s and 1980s, Mt Wellington AFC was a strong club side, rivalled only by Christchurch United. Colin Walker (footballer Born 1958)
Colin Walker (born 1 May 1958) is a former professional footballer and manager who is head of coaching at EFL League Two side Grimsby Town. As a player he was a striker who notably played in the Football League for Barnsley, Doncaster Rovers, Cambridge United, Sheffield Wednesday, Darlington and Torquay United. He also spent time playing in New Zealand with three spells at Gisborne City. He also played non-league football for Retford Town, Matlock Town and Harworth Colliery Institute. Walker was capped 15 times by New Zealand between 1984 and 1988, scoring 10 goals. He had obtained citizenship during his time spent playing in the country. As a manager Walker took charge of Gisborne City in 1988 before moving on to manage non-league side Maltby Miners Welfare. He later had coaching roles at Barnsley and Leeds United whilst also working for Rugby Union side Rotherham Titans. New Plymouth Rangers is an amateur association football club based in New Plymouth, New Zealand. They were founded as New Plymouth Old Boys in 1940, and have had a complex naming history. The team play at Merrilands Domain. The club has men's and women's senior and social teams, as well as over a dozen junior teams. Tauranga City United AFC
Tauranga City AFC is a football club based in Tauranga, New Zealand. The men's and women's teams currently both compete in the NRFL Championship. Club history Tauranga City AFC was formed in 1964, in 2000 they changed their name to Tauranga City United when Mt Maunganui AFC folded and the Tauranga City Council relocated the club to the formers ground at Links Avenue, Mt Maunganui. They dropped the United from their name again in 2017, returning to their original name ‘Tauranga City AFC’ when they merged with local junior side 'Mount Maunganui JFC’. Manurewa AFC
Manurewa AFC is an amateur football (soccer) club in Manurewa, Auckland, New Zealand. They will compete in Lotto Sport Italia NRFL Division 1 with newly appointed head coach Marty Rodwell History Manurewa AFC was formed by the merger of Tramways ( 1929 Chatham Cup winner) and another club named Manurewa. The merged entity initially used the portmanteau name of Tramurewa, during which time the club won the 1931 Chatham Cup. Tramuwera reverted to the name of Manurewa in 1959, the name currently used by the club. Manurewa competed in the New Zealand National Soccer League from 1979 to 1992, finishing as champions in 1983. Hutt Valley United was a short-lived association football club from New Zealand. A composite team, the club was founded in 1987 ostensibly to represent the interests of several senior teams from the Hutt Valley area just north of Wellington in the New Zealand National Soccer League. Hutt Valley United played in the national league from 1987 to 1992, achieving their best result in the 1989 competition, finishing fifth. Nelson United
Nelson United was a New Zealand soccer club, based in the South Island city of Nelson. Their home ground was Guppy Park. The team was founded in 1968 through the amalgamation of Nelson Thistle (founded 1924) and Nelson Rangers (founded 1950 as Settlers, name changed in 1959). Wellington United AFC is an association football club based in Wellington, New Zealand, that competes in the Central League. History Wellington Diamond United Wellington Diamond United was the result of the merger of Diamond and Zealandia/Wellington United in 1968. Diamond was founded as a junior football club in 1893 by members of the Star Rugby Club, who wished to play football. It became a senior team in 1895. Christchurch United is an amateur association football club in Christchurch, New Zealand. They compete in various Mainland Football competitions at Junior and Senior level. Papatoetoe AFC
Papatoetoe AFC is an amateur football club based in Papatoetoe, New Zealand. They currently compete in the NRF Championship, however, have enjoyed successful spells at the top of the New Zealand game, namely in the former National League, and having won two NRFL Premier League crowns. History Papatoetoe AFC was founded in 1959 through the efforts of Ken Hastings.
