WebOS
webOS, also known as LG webOS and previously known as Open webOS, HP webOS and Palm webOS, is a Linux kernel-based multitasking operating system for smart devices such as smart TVs that has also been used as a mobile operating system. Initially developed by Palm, Inc. (which was acquired by Hewlett-Packard), HP made the platform open source, at which point it became ''Open webOS.'' The operating system was later sold to LG Electronics, and was made primarily a smart TV operating system for LG televisions as a successor to LG Netcast. In January 2014, Qualcomm announced that it had acquired technology patents from HP, which included all the webOS and Palm patents; LG licenses them to use in their devices. Palm, Inc. was an American company that specialized in manufacturing personal digital assistants (PDAs) and various other electronics. They were the designer of the PalmPilot, the first PDA successfully marketed worldwide, as well as the Treo 600, one of the first smartphones. Palm developed several versions of Palm OS for PDAs and smartphones. The company was also responsible for the first versions of webOS, the first multitasking operating system for smartphones, and enyo (software), enyo.js, a framework for HTML5 apps. LG Netcast
NetCast (later Smart TV, then Legacy Platform) is a proprietary firmware by LG Electronics that was preinstalled on their smart TVs between 2007 and 2014. LG has signed partnerships with various companies to provide services on the TV. It includes YouTube, AccuWeather, Orange Mobile, Maxdome, CinemaNow and Netflix. LG has combined local and global services to provide the most relevant content. In 2011, they added support for widgets, which users were able to download. HP Veer
The Veer is a smartphone announced by HP on February 9, 2011. The device uses HP webOS, is powered by a Qualcomm Snapdragon processor, and has a 2.6-inch screen. The smartphone is notable for its credit card-sized dimensions (and a depth that is comparable to the size of a deck of cards). The Palm Pre , styled as palm prē, is a multitasking smartphone that was designed and marketed by Palm with a multi-touch screen and a sliding keyboard. The Palm Pixi and Pixi Plus are multimedia smartphones, developed by Palm, which was purchased in 2010 by HP. The device is viewed as a successor to the Palm Centro smartphone and was Palm's second webOS device, after the Palm Pre.
