Wakadinali
Wakadinali is a Kenyan hip hop group with three members, David Munga Ramadhan professionally known as Domani Munga, Churchill Mandela professionally known as Scar Mkadinali and Salim Ali Tangut professionally known as Sewer Sydaa. The group is also known as Rong Rende. Wakadinali who are from the Eastlands area in Nairobi started out as an underground hiphop group and broke into the mainstream in 2020. Tela Wangeci writing on The Native linked the group to a "hiphop renaissance" in Nairobi, which she attributed to their ability to make music that represents the ordinary Kenyan youth. In 2022, Rolling Stone listed their song "''Mc Mca"'' as one of the top 40 Afropop songs of 2022. Their song ''"Sikutambui"'' was also listed Rolling Stone's The 40 Best Afropop Songs of 2023 list. Nairobi
Nairobi ( ) is the capital and largest city of Kenya. Trap Music
Trap is a subgenre of hip hop music that originated in the Southern United States during the 1990s. The genre gets its name from the Atlanta slang word "trap", a house used exclusively to sell drugs. Trap music uses synthesized drums and is characterized by complex hi-hat patterns, tuned kick drums with a long decay (originally from the Roland TR-808 drum machine), and lyrical content that often focuses on drug use and urban violence. It utilizes very few instruments and focuses almost exclusively on snare drums and double- or triple-timed hi-hats. Drill Music
Drill is a subgenre of hip hop music that originated in Chicago streets in the early 2010s. It is sonically similar to the trap music subgenre and lyrically similar to the gangsta rap subgenre. Drill music progressed into the American mainstream circa 2012 following the success of rappers like Chief Keef, Lil Durk, Lil Reese, Fredo Santana, G Herbo, Lil Bibby, and King Louie who had many local fans and a significant internet presence alongside producer Young Chop.
