Vodacom Championship
The Vodacom Championship was an annual golf tournament on the Sunshine Tour. It was inaugurated in 2001 as part of the rebranding of the old Southern Africa Tour, and being the last event on the schedule, it was titled as The Tour Championship, but was renamed when the tour switched to a calendar based season in 2007. The 2007 Sunshine Tour was the eighth season of professional golf tournaments since the southern Africa based Sunshine Tour was rebranded in 2000, and the marked the beginning of a new era as the tour switched to a calendar based season, having previously been seasonal. The Sunshine Tour represents the highest level of competition for male professional golfers in the region. The tour was based predominantly in South Africa, with 24 of the 28 tournaments being held in the country. Two events were held in Swaziland, with one each in Zambia and Namibia. There were five new tournaments, the Joburg Open, one of three events co-sanctioned by the PGA European Tour, the Nashua Golf Challenge, the Lombard Insurance Classic, the returning Mount Edgecombe Trophy, and the Nedbank Affinity Cup, introduced to the schedule as an appetizer to the high profile Nedbank Golf Challenge. The 2001–02 Sunshine Tour was the second season of professional golf tournaments since the southern Africa based Sunshine Tour was rebranded in 2000. The Sunshine Tour represents the highest level of competition for male professional golfers in the region. There were 22 official events on the schedule. Trevor Immelman
Trevor John Immelman (born 16 December 1979) is a South African professional golfer who has played on the PGA Tour, European Tour and Sunshine Tour. He won his sole major championship at the 2008 Masters Tournament. Early years Immelman was born in Cape Town, South Africa. Born into a golfing family. Andrew McLardy
Andrew Ronald McLardy (born 20 January 1974) is a South African professional golfer. McLardy was born in Triangle, Zimbabwe to Scottish parents. He had a successful amateur career, including representing South Africa twice in the Eisenhower Trophy, before turning professional in 1997. He joined the Southern Africa Tour, now the Sunshine Tour, where he has accumulated five wins. In 1998, McLardy qualified for the European Tour via qualifying school. He finished inside the top 100 on the Order of Merit in both his first two seasons, before he moved to the United States to try his hand at the PGA Tour. Keith Horne
Keith Weller Horne (born 9 June 1971) is a professional golfer from South Africa. Horne was born in Durban and had a successful amateur career. In 1993, Horne won a Silver Medal at the World Games in Spain. He turned professional in 1996. He is an alumnus of Westville Boys' High School. Professional career After turning professional in 1996, Horne immediately joined the local Sunshine Tour, the richest professional golf tour in South Africa. Marc Cayeux
Marc Elton Cayeux (born 22 February 1978) is a Zimbabwean professional golfer. His father is South African, and his mother English. He was born in Lancaster, England and raised in Zimbabwe, leaving school at 14 to pursue a career in golf. He is a Zimbabwean/British dual national, but plays golf as a Zimbabwean. Cayeux finished fourth on the Challenge Tour in 2004, to gain exemption to the full European Tour for 2005. Darren Fichardt
Darren Clive Fichardt (born 13 May 1975) is a South African professional golfer who plays on both the European and Sunshine Tours. Early life Fichardt was born in Pretoria and grew up in Centurion, Gauteng. He attended Sutherland High School from 1988 to 1993, where his talent for golf was nurtured. Professional career Fichardt turned professional in 1994 and he won the Southern Africa Tour (now the Sunshine Tour) Order of Merit in 1999/2000 and 2003/04.
