Viadeo is a Web 2.0 professional social network whose members include business owners, entrepreneurs and managers. Viadeo was often compared to LinkedIn, offering free access but not being able to compete with the larger corporation. As of 2014, the site had 65 million members. Company information Viadeo was founded under its original name, Viaduc, in May 2004 by Dan Serfaty, a graduate of the HEC School of Management in Paris, and Thierry Lunati, a graduate of École centrale Paris. The name was changed to Viadeo in November 2006. From November 2006 to August 2007, Viadeo raised €5 million twice in funding from investors AGF Private Equity and Ventech. Later that year, Viadeo announced the acquisition of Tianji.com, a Chinese business social network. Six months after purchasing Tianji, in July 2008 Viadeo acquired its Spanish competitor ICTnet. Dan Serfaty
Dan Serfaty (born February 5, 1966 in Strasbourg, France) is a French entrepreneur and businessman. He is best known as the former co-founder and CEO of the professional social network Viadeo. Biography After graduating from HEC Paris Entrepreneurship program in 1987, Serfaty spent 2 years abroad before starting his entrepreneurial life. In 1989, he acquired a company in the tourism sector, which he turned profitable before selling it in 1991. At the same time, he co-founded a company specializing in the distribution of imported clothing products from Asia, which he sold 10 years later. In 2000, he founded Agregator, a club dedicated to entrepreneurs, helping them share their experiences, ideas, and contacts with other club members. Unyk.com is a contact management website that allows users to put together an intelligent address book. Concept Users complete their personal and professional contact information in their profile on the website. They can then aggregate the contacts from all their messaging services in their address book, and invite these contacts to complete their own profile on the website.
