Vambola Kurg
Vambola Kurg (27 August 1898 in Tartu – 22 September 1981 in Tartu) was an Estonian actor. In 1915 he graduated from Tartu City School. From 1918 until 1959, he worked at the Vanemuine theatre in Tartu. Besides theatre roles he played also in several films. Kurg died, aged 83, and was buried at Rõngu Rõngu is a small borough (') in Elva Parish, Tartu County, southern Estonia. Tartu
Tartu is the second largest city in Estonia after the Northern European country's political and financial capital, Tallinn. Tartu has a population of 91,407 (as of 2021). The Governorate of Estonia, also known as the Governorate of Esthonia (Pre-reformed rus, Эстля́ндская губе́рнія, r=Estlyandskaya guberniya); et, Eestimaa kubermang was a governorate in the Baltic region, along with the Livonian and Courland Governorates. Vanemuine () is a theatre in Tartu, Estonia. It was the first Estonian language theatre. History ''1870–1906 The Beginning of the Beginning. Koidula’s Theatre, Wiera’s Theatre.'' On June 24, 1870 was the first day in Estonian theatre history by Lydia Koidula's play "Saaremaa onupoeg" (en: Cousin from Saaremaa) was performed.It was the first Estonian language play and it was performed at the Vanemuine Society house at Jaama Street in Tartu. Rõngu
Rõngu is a small borough (') in Elva Parish, Tartu County, southern Estonia. Prior to the administrative reform of Estonian local governments in 2017, it was the administrative centre of Rõngu Parish. Sights Rõngu castle ruins The present-day ruins are the visible remains of a so-called "vassal castle", i.e. a smaller fortress not designed for major military operations, established in the early 14th century. Built in the south-western part of the Bishopric of Dorpat, it probably served to control the bishopric's border there. The castle was centred on a rectangular courtyard which was surrounded by wings. The gate, the remains of which are most prominently visible today, was strengthened by a gatehouse that also housed a chapel on its second floor.
