Valeriu Călinoiu
Valeriu Călinoiu (9 October 1928 – 20 December 1990) was a Romanian footballer. He competed in the men's tournament at the 1952 Summer Olympics. Club career Valeriu Călinoiu was born on 9 October 1928 in Bucharest, Romania and he started playing junior level football in 1942 at Olympia București, after one year moving at Carmen București and started his senior career in 1948 at IMS Hunedoara. He made his Divizia A debut, playing for Petrolul București on 29 May 1949 in a 2–0 away victory against CFR Cluj. After a short period spent in Divizia B at Dinamo Brașov which he helped promote to the first league, he went to play at Dinamo București in 1951 where his first performance with the club was reaching the 1954 Cupa României final where coach Angelo Niculescu used him all the minutes in the eventual 2–0 loss in front of Metalul Reșița. Gheorghe Popescu I
Gheorghe Popescu (8 August 1919 – 1 January 2001) was a Romanian footballer and also a manager. He played as a striker. Club career Gheorghe Popescu was born on 8 August 1919 in Bucharest, Romania, starting to play junior level football in 1928 at Gloria. He started his senior career in 1935 at Divizia B club, Sportul Studențesc București where he worked with coach Coloman Braun-Bogdan, helping the team earn promotion to the first league at the end of the 1936–37 season. He made his Divizia A debut on 12 September 1937 in Sportul's 3–0 away loss in front of Gloria Arad. Iuliu Baratky
Gyula Barátky (; 14 May 1910 – 14 April 1962) was footballer who represented both Hungary and Romania internationally. His preferred position was the half right. He played a total of 155 games in the national Romanian championships (scoring 100 goals), starting on 10 September 1933 (Venus București – Crișana Oradea 0–1). He won four Romanian Cups in 1937, 1939, 1940, 1941, all with Rapid București. He debuted in the Hungary national team in 1930, and played nine games with no goals scored. In 1933, he started to play for the Romania national team, for which he played 20 games and scored 13 goals. He appeared in the 1938 World Cup, scoring a goal against Cuba. After his last game (Oțelul Reșița – RATA Târgu Mureș 5–3), he coached RATA Târgu Mureș for a while and, for a very short term, the Romania national team. The 1959 Cupa României Final was the 21st final of Romania's most prestigious football cup competition. It was disputed between Dinamo București and CSM Baia Mare, and was won by Dinamo București after a game with four goals. It was the first cup for Dinamo București. 1956–57 European Cup
The 1956–57 European Cup was the second season of the European Cup, Europe's premier club football tournament. The competition was won for the second time by Real Madrid, who beat Fiorentina 2–0 in the final at the Santiago Bernabéu, Madrid, on 30 May 1957. After the great success of the first tournament, six new nations entered representatives: Bulgaria, Czechoslovakia, England, Luxembourg, Romania and Turkey. The Football League had not allowed Chelsea to enter in 1955, and continued its stance on the European Cup as it being a "distraction".
