VOAR-FM (96.7 MHz) is a Canadian radio station, which airs a christian format. It is licensed to Mount Pearl, Newfoundland and Labrador, and serves the St. John's metropolitan area. VOAR is owned by the Seventh-day Adventist Church in Newfoundland & Labrador. Its radio studios and offices are on Topsail Road in Mount Pearl. The transmitter is off Kenmount Road, also in Mount Pearl. The effective radiated power (ERP) is 100,000 watts. VOAR airs a blend of Christian talk and teaching programs along with Contemporary Christian music. VOCM-FM is a Canadian radio station broadcasting at 97.5 Hertz, MHz from St. John's, Newfoundland and Labrador, St. John's, Newfoundland and Labrador. Owned by Stingray Group, the station is branded as ''97.5 K-Rock'' and broadcasts a classic rock format, although some 1990s and 2000s rock music, rock songs have recently become part of the mix. VOCM (AM)
VOCM is an AM radio station in St. John's, Newfoundland and Labrador, Canada, broadcasting at 590 kHz. Owned by Stingray Group, VOCM first went on the air on October 19, 1936. Through the "VOCM/Big Land FM Radio Network" of stations owned by Stingray, VOCM programming is carried throughout the province. VOCM and its sister station VOCM-FM are among the four radio stations in Canada having call signs beginning with the prefix VO, the ITU prefix issued to the Dominion of Newfoundland before its confederation into Canada in 1949. The other two, VOWR and VOAR-FM, also broadcast in St. John's; all but VOCM-FM predate the confederation. VOWR is a radio station in St. John's, Newfoundland and Labrador, Canada. The station is operated by the Wesley United Church of Canada and operates a mix of 30% religious programming and 70% secular programming, including classical, folk, country, oldies, military/marching band, adult standards, beautiful music and music from the 1940s through the 1970s, interviews and informational programs. VOWR has several information based programs that are of interest to its core demographic including Consumer Reports, a gardening show, the 50+ Radio Show and many others of a wide range of subjects. Newfoundland was a British dominion in eastern North America, today the modern Canadian province of Newfoundland and Labrador. It was established on 26 September 1907, and confirmed by the Balfour Declaration of 1926 and the Statute of Westminster of 1931. In broadcasting and radio communications, a call sign (also known as a call name or call letters—and historically as a call signal—or abbreviated as a call) is a unique identifier for a transmitter station. A call sign can be formally assigned by a government agency, informally adopted by individuals or organizations, or even cryptographically encoded to disguise a station's identity. The use of call signs as unique identifiers dates to the landline railroad telegraph system. Because there was only one telegraph line linking all railroad stations, there needed to be a way to address each one when sending a telegram. Charles Rozell Swindoll (born October 18, 1934) is an evangelical Christian pastor, author, educator, and radio preacher. Jim Daly (born July 22, 1961) is the head of Focus on the Family, an international Christian communications ministry based in Colorado Springs, Colorado. He succeeded founder James Dobson in 2005. Daly is the main host of the Focus on the Family radio program. Early life, influence, education and career Daly grew up in Southern California.
