Hypocenomyce
''Hypocenomyce'' is a genus of lichen-forming fungi in the family Ophioparmaceae. Species in the genus grow on bark and on wood, especially on burned tree stumps and trunks in coniferous forest. ''Hypocenomyce'' lichens are widely distributed in the northern hemisphere. Taxonomy The genus was circumscribed in 1951 by French lichenologist Maurice Choisy to contain the single species '' Hypocenomyce scalaris'', a lichen that was first formally described by Erik Acharius in 1795. Choisy's original concept of the genus featured a squamulose thallus, adnate apothecia of the lecideine type (i.e., lacking algae and an amphithecium, with a black carbonized margin as in the genus ''Lecidea'') and pycnoconidia that are short, straight, and cylindrical. Norwegian lichenologist Einer Timdal revised the genus in 1984, describing two new species to bring the total ''Hypocenomyce '' species up to ten. Since then, two new species have been described, and several have been transferred to ... [...More Info...]       [...Related Items...]     OR:     [Wikipedia]   [Google]   [Baidu]   |

Lasallia
''Lasallia'' is a genus of lichenized fungi in the family Umbilicariaceae. The genus name of ''Lasallia'' is in honour of Mr. Lasalle (around 1820), who was a French gardener and botanist, who worked in Fontainebleau. It was circumscribed by François Victor Mérat de Vaumartoise in Nouv. Fl. Paris ed.2, vol.1 on page 202 in 1821. The genus contains 12 species with a widespread, but predominantly temperate distribution. Phylogenetic analysis of internal transcribed spacer DNA has shown that the genus is monophyletic. High performance liquid chromatography analysis of eleven ''Lasallia'' species revealed a number of secondary metabolites in this genus, including gyrophoric acid, lecanoric acid Lecanoric acid is a chemical produced by several species of lichen.ubChem - Lecanoric acid"> Lecanoric acid is classified as a polyphenol and a didepside and it functions as an antioxidant.
