Twist (confectionery)
Twist is a bite-sized confectionery produced by Freia (owned by Mondelez), primarily for the Scandinavian market. Twist is sold in bags, and each bag contains a variety of pieces, mostly consisting of chocolates with some sort of filling in the center. New pieces are added and old ones discontinued frequently. Only two pieces, ''Lakris'' (licorice) and ''Cocos'' (coconut-filled chocolate), have existed since the product was launched. The name ''Twist'' refers to the way each piece is wrapped. Twist quickly became popular when it was introduced in Norway in 1957. It was introduced in the other Nordic countries soon thereafter; Sweden in 1958, Denmark in 1963, and Finland in 1964. However, the product is still most popular in its home market: Norwegians consume three times as much Twist as Swedes. Freia (chocolate)
Freia is a Norwegian chocolate sweets manufacturing brand. The brand is famous for Freia Melkesjokolade and Kvikk Lunsj, as well as for other candy and dessert products. The company was acquired by Mondelez International in 1993, and liquidated in 2017. History Freia was founded by Olaf Larsen (1867–1920) and Fredrik Wilhelm Hjorth Christensen (1851–) in 1889. Larsen had been experimenting with chocolate for some time and Christensen arranged supplies with cocoa suppliers and paid for machines and the required facilities. Teal success bought by Johan Throne Holst (1868–1946) in 1892. He took over management from Larsen in 1898 and led the company to commercial success. Oslo
Oslo ( , , or ; sma, Oslove) is the capital and most populous city of Norway. It constitutes both a county and a municipality. Marabou (chocolate)
Marabou is a Swedish and Norwegian chocolate brand owned by Mondelez International. History The brand was founded by the Norwegian chocolatier Johan Throne Holst (1868–1946), who already had launched the same chocolate recipe in Norway under the name Freia with great success – in the beginning of the 20th century Freia owned over 50% of the Norwegian market. During the First World War, the continental European markets were closed, so the company decided to expand to Sweden. In 1916, the brand Marabou was created in Sweden;(noOm Marabou ''Marabou.se'' as the name Freja was already taken in Sweden, the company decided to name their Swedish branch after the stork in the logo. However, the actual production didn't start until 1919 due to shortages in cocoa supply caused by World War I.
