Trail Menorca Camí De Cavalls
The Trail Menorca Camí de Cavalls (also referred to as TMCdC) is a single-staged ultramarathon race held in the island of Menorca, Spain. It goes around the whole island through the Camí de Cavalls, covering a total of . It is a qualifying race for the Ultra-Trail du Mont-Blanc, allowing currently the acquisition of 4 qualification points. Organization The first edition was held between 18 and 20 May 2012 and in total more than 270 participants took part in it. After that, the number of participants has been continuously increasing every year. Events It is divided in five different events: *''Trail Cami de Cavalls (TMCdC)'' is long and has a total elevation gain of 2863 m. It gives 4 qualification points for the Ultra-Trail du Mont-Blanc. *''Trail Costa Nord (TMCN)'' is between 90 and 100 km, depending on the edition, and it covers the north side of the island from Ciutadella until Es Castell. Menorca
Menorca or Minorca (from la, Insula Minor, , smaller island, later ''Minorica'') is one of the Balearic Islands located in the Mediterranean Sea belonging to Spain. Its name derives from its size, contrasting it with nearby Majorca. Camí De Cavalls
The Camí de Cavalls is an ancient path, in length, that encircles the island of Menorca, Spain. This Long-distance trail, long-distance walking route is the GR 223 of the GR footpath, Senderos de Gran Recorrido network in Spain that connects some of the most inaccessible List of beaches in Menorca, beaches of Menorca. History It is widely accepted that the Camí de Cavalls was built in order to connect the watchtowers, fortresses and cannons distributed along the coast of the island and to make the transport of troops and artillery easier. Ultra-Trail Du Mont-Blanc
The Ultra-Trail du Mont-Blanc (UTMB) is a single-stage mountain ultramarathon, first held in 2003, that follows the route of the Tour du Mont Blanc. Elisabet Barnes (born April 13, 1977, née ''Frankenberg'') is a Swedish athlete specialized in ultrarunning. Her major claim to fame is winning the Marathon des Sables in 2015, winning each stage of the race. She repeated her win in 2017. The Marathon des Sables has been listed by Outside Magazine as one of the 9 toughest ultramarathons in the world. In 2015, she participated in six races, winning all and setting new course records in four. Barnes grew up in Sweden but moved to England in 2007 where she started to run ultra trails in 2011. She holds an MSc in Engineering & Business Management and a Graduate Certificate in Change Management, and has a professional background in management consulting.
