Toronto Eaton's
The Toronto Eaton's (or Eatons), of the Eaton Athletic Association, were an amateur ice hockey team from Toronto, Ontario, playing in the Ontario Hockey Association (OHA). The team got its name from the Canadian department store chain founded by Timothy Eaton that was once the largest in the country. The Toronto Eaton's had its short-lived heydays in the early 1910s, when it was spearheaded by future Hockey Hall of Fame inductee Frank Rankin and won back-to-back OHA championships in 1910–11 and 1911–12. Gordon Meeking
Gordon Sydney "Gord" Meeking (August 26, 1890 – December 21, 1965) was a Canadian professional ice hockey player for the Ottawa Senators, Toronto 228th Battalion, Victoria Aristocrats and Regina Capitals. His brother Harry Meeking was also a hockey player. Playing career Born in Barrie, Ontario, Meeking played junior hockey for the local Barrie Colts from 1907 until 1910. He then moved to Toronto and played for Toronto Eaton's and Toronto R & AA in the Ontario Hockey Association seniors until 1915. In 1915–16, he became a professional player with the Ottawa Senators. He enlisted in the Canadian army for World War I. Before going to Europe to fight, he played for the Toronto 228th, a team of enlisted professional ice hockey players. After the war, he returned, and first played for Glace Bay Miners of the Cape Breton league. Frank Foyston
Frank Corbett "Flash" Foyston (February 2, 1891 – January 19, 1966) was a Canadian professional ice hockey player and coach. Foyston was a member of Stanley Cup championship teams three times: with the Toronto Blueshirts in 1914, the Seattle Metropolitans in 1917, and the Victoria Cougars in 1925. While with the Metropolitans, he twice led the Pacific Coast Hockey Association (PCHA) in goals. After his retirement from playing, Foyston became a minor league head coach. Winnipeg Victorias
The Winnipeg Victorias were a former amateur senior-level men's amateur ice hockey team in Winnipeg, Manitoba, organized in 1889. They played in the Manitoba Hockey Association (MHA) in the late 19th and early 20th centuries. The Victorias won the Stanley Cup in February 1896, 1901 and January 1902 while losing the Cup in December 1896, February 1899, February 1900, March 1902, and February 1903. After the Stanley Cup became the professional championship, the Victorias continued in senior-level amateur play, winning the Allan Cup in 1911 and 1912. 1912 Allan Cup
The 1912 Allan Cup was the Canadian senior ice hockey championship for the 1911–12 season. The final challenge was hosted by the Winnipeg Victorias and Winnipeg, Manitoba. The 1912 playoff marked the 5th time the Allan Cup had a champion. Claude C. Robinson was named a trustee for the Allan Cup in Western Canada to oversee challenges for the trophy. The Ottawa New Edinburghs announced that the Ontario Hockey Association (OHA) agreed to return the Allan Cup to its trustees, and that the New Edinburghs would travel to Winnipeg to challenge for the cup. Robinson was surprised by the announcement, and had expected to arrange exhibition games between the Winnipeg Victorias and the New Edinburghs. Timothy Eaton
Timothy Eaton (March 1834 – 31 January 1907) was an Irish businessman who founded the Eaton's department store, one of the most important retail businesses in Canada's history. Early life and family He was born in Ballymena, County Antrim, History of Ireland (1801–1923), Ireland (now Northern Ireland). His parents were Scottish Protestants, John Eaton and Margaret Craig. Ice hockey (or simply hockey) is a team sport played on ice skates, usually on an ice skating rink with lines and markings specific to the sport. It belongs to a family of sports called hockey.
