1912 Allan Cup
The 1912 Allan Cup was the Canadian senior ice hockey championship for the 1911–12 season. The final challenge was hosted by the Winnipeg Victorias and Winnipeg, Manitoba. The 1912 playoff marked the 5th time the Allan Cup had a champion. Claude C. Robinson was named a trustee for the Allan Cup in Western Canada to oversee challenges for the trophy. The Ottawa New Edinburghs announced that the Ontario Hockey Association (OHA) agreed to return the Allan Cup to its trustees, and that the New Edinburghs would travel to Winnipeg to challenge for the cup. Robinson was surprised by the announcement, and had expected to arrange exhibition games between the Winnipeg Victorias and the New Edinburghs. Allan Cup
The Allan Cup is the trophy awarded annually to the national senior amateur men's ice hockey champions of Canada. It was donated by Sir Montagu Allan of Ravenscrag, Montreal, and has been competed for since 1909. The current champions are the Lacombe Generals, who captured the 2019 Allan Cup in Lacombe, Alberta. The top amateur teams left the Eastern Canada Amateur Hockey Association, which allowed professionals, to form the new Inter-Provincial Amateur Hockey Union (IPAHU), a purely amateur league. Manitoba Hockey Association
The Manitoba Hockey Association (MHA) was an early men's senior ice hockey league playing around 1900 in Manitoba, Canada. The league started as an elite amateur league in 1892, became professional in 1905, had a professional and an amateur league in 1908–09 and only an amateur league from 1909 until 1923. Two teams from the league won the Stanley Cup, the Winnipeg Victorias and the Kenora Thistles. The Regina Capitals were a professional ice hockey team originally based in the city of Regina, Saskatchewan in the Western Canada Hockey League (WCHL), founded in 1921. Western Canada Hockey League Capitals (1921–1926) 1921 was the Regina Capitals' first season in the new Western Canada Hockey League, they finished second overall and then upset the Edmonton Eskimos in the playoffs to win the league championship. The Toronto Eaton's (or Eatons), of the Eaton Athletic Association, were an amateur ice hockey team from Toronto, Ontario, playing in the Ontario Hockey Association (OHA). The team got its name from the Canadian department store chain founded by Timothy Eaton that was once the largest in the country. The Toronto Eaton's had its short-lived heydays in the early 1910s, when it was spearheaded by future Hockey Hall of Fame inductee Frank Rankin and won back-to-back OHA championships in 1910–11 and 1911–12. Senior hockey refers to amateur or semi-professional ice hockey competition. There are no age restrictions for Senior players, who typically consist of those whose Junior eligibility has expired. Senior hockey leagues operate under the jurisdiction of Hockey Canada or USA Hockey. They are not affiliated in any way with professional hockey leagues. Many former professional players play Senior hockey after their pro careers are over. The top Senior AAA teams in Canada compete annually for the Allan Cup. The Ontario Hockey Association (OHA) is the governing body for the majority of junior and senior level ice hockey teams in the Province of Ontario. The Ottawa New Edinburghs (also known as the Ottawa Seconds) were a senior ice hockey team from the New Edinburgh neighbourhood of Ottawa that played in various ice hockey leagues in Canada during the early 1900s, such as the Ottawa City Hockey League and the Interprovincial Amateur Hockey Union. The club was first originated as a canoe club in the 1880s, and the hockey team was often referred to as "the paddlers".
